Focus on technology preoccupation and localization of core materials related to the 4th industrial revolution
Professor Park Sung-heum

Research achievements led by Professor Park Sung-heum (Dept. of physics) of Pukyong National University were largely introduced on a science portal, Dong-A Science. Dong-A Science took a closer look at the research team of Professor Park Seong-heum at Physics of Pukyong National University with an article titled "The Revolution of Materials Begins from the Boundary of Academia" in the series of <The Future of Materials> dated 17th of February. The article introduced, "The research team of Professor Park Sung-heum of the Department of Physics at Pukyong National University is focusing on designing various organic molecules that can be applied to the interface between solar cells and light-emitting diodes (LEDs). It continued, “The research team (of Professor Park) applied their years of experience in molecular design to the development of filter materials that were only imported from abroad. As a result, they developed a material that absorbs light with a wavelength of 704nm, which is closer to visible light than the world's best material that absorbs light with a wavelength of 705nm."
The article stated, "This filter material, developed entirely with domestic technology, is meaningful in that it preoccupied the core material technology used in the main industries of the 4th industrial revolution and localized the material," it added, "In 2019, in the situation of Japan restricted the export of semiconductors and display materials, making filter materials with domestic technology could cut the manufacturing cost of filters in half." Meanwhile, Professor Park received the Busan Science and Technology Award in 2019 from the Federation of Busan Science and Technology (FOBST) in recognition of his research achievements in optoelectronic devices utilizing new organic materials. He has published 81 pieces of research papers on organic materials and optoelectronic devices that utilize them for the last five years, including the development of organic-inorganic hybrid laminated solar cells that can dramatically improve the efficiency of floating solar cells. He has been highly praised for his research achievements by applicating and registering many domestic and foreign patents related to his research.
