국립부경대, THE 세계대학평가 4년간 상승세 ‘눈길’
- 올해 구간 순위 올라 ‘1001-1200위’ 기록 … 전국 국립대 6위
국립부경대학교(총장 배상훈)가 2027 THE 세계대학평가에서 ‘1001-1200위’를 기록하며 4년간 꾸준한 상승세를 이어갔다. 전국 국립대 중에서는 6위에 올랐다.
영국의 글로벌 대학평가 기관인 THE(The Times Higher Education)는 교육여건과 연구환경, 연구품질, 산학협력, 국제화 등 5개 핵심지표와 18개 세부지표를 평가해 118개 국가 및 지역의 2,297개 대학 순위를 9월 30일 발표했다.
국립부경대는 2024 평가에 처음 진입한 데 이어 2025, 2026 평가에서 각각 ‘1201-1500위’에 올랐고, 2027 평가에서는 순위를 ‘1001-1200위’로 한 구간 끌어올렸다. 국내 순위도 최근 3년간 35위에서 30위, 이번에 28위로 올랐다. 전국 국립대 가운데서는 충남대와 함께 공동 6위를 기록했다.
이번 평가에서 국립부경대는 5개 핵심지표 전체에 걸쳐 점수가 상승한 가운데, 특히 연구환경 지표에서 가장 큰 폭의 상승세를 보였다. 국립부경대는 부경플래그십연구원을 신설하는 등 연구중심대학 전환을 추진하며 연구 전 주기 지원체계를 구축해 온 대학의 혁신 노력이 반영된 것으로 분석했다.
이와 함께 두 개 캠퍼스 가운데 용당캠퍼스를 중심으로 글로벌 산학협력 플랫폼을 키우는 한편, 첨단 분야 대응을 위한 AX혁신대학과 외국인 유학생을 전담하는 글로벌혁신대학을 신설하는 등의 체질 개선 성과가 이번 평가 결과로 이어진 것으로 보고 있다.
국립부경대는 이번 평가 결과를 바탕으로 연구 경쟁력을 더욱 강화하고, 글로벌 산학협력과 국제화 역량을 높이는 한편, 미래 첨단 분야를 선도하는 교육·연구 혁신을 지속적으로 추진해 세계 수준의 대학으로 도약한다는 계획이다. <부경투데이>
Pukyong National University Draws Attention with Four Consecutive Years of Improvement in THE World University Rankings

Pukyong National University (President Sang-Hoon Bae) has continued its steady upward trend over the past four years, placing in the 1001-1200 band in the 2027 The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. The university also ranked 6th among national universities in Korea.
The Times Higher Education (THE), a UK-based global university ranking organization, announced its rankings of 2,297 universities across 118 countries and regions on September 30. The rankings assess universities based on five key performance areas―teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook―comprising 18 individual indicators.
Pukyong National University first entered the THE World University Rankings in 2024 and was placed in the 1201-1500 band in both the 2025 and 2026 rankings. In the 2027 rankings, the university moved up one band to 1001-1200. Its domestic ranking has also steadily improved over the past three years, rising from 35th to 30th and then to 28th this year. Among national universities in Korea, Pukyong National University tied for 6th place with Chungnam National University.
In this year’s evaluation, Pukyong National University recorded higher scores across all five key performance areas, with the research environment showing the most significant improvement. Pukyong National University attributed this progress to its ongoing innovation efforts to transform into a research-oriented university, including the establishment of the Pukyong Flagship Research Institute and the development of a full-cycle research support system.
In addition, the university believes that its institutional restructuring efforts have contributed to the improved rankings. These include expanding its global industry-academia cooperation platform centered on Yongdang Campus, one of its two campuses, as well as establishing the AX Innovation College to respond to advances in cutting-edge fields and the Global Innovation College dedicated to international students.
Building on the results of this year’s evaluation, Pukyong National University plans to further strengthen its research competitiveness, enhance its global industry-academia cooperation and internationalization capabilities, and continuously pursue educational and research innovation in future-oriented advanced fields, with the goal of becoming a world-class university.
