‘수·해양 생물에서 신의약 물질 찾는다’

PKNU, agreement on joint research for the development of new marine-bio medicines with Seoul National University and Kyung Hee University

- 부경대, 서울대 경희대 등과 해양바이오제약 공동연구협약 체결

부경대학교가 수·해양 생물을 이용한 새로운 의약 물질 개발에 본격적으로 나섰다.

부경대학교는 3월 25일 오전 서울 팔래스호텔에서 서울대학교 약학대학, 경희대학교 한의과대학과 연구협력 협약을 체결했다.

수·해양 생물에서 신의약 물질을 개발하기 위해 국·사립대학들이 공동연구를 추진하는 것은 이번이 처음이다.

이날 협약을 통해 3개 대학은 상호 보유하고 있는 연구역량과 자원을 최대한 활용하여 수·해양 생물 소재 연구개발, 수·해양 천연물 소재의 의약물질 개발 등에 긴밀히 협력하기로 했다.

이를 위해 상호 시설 및 연구기자재를 공동 활용하고 국책사업도 공동으로 수행하기로 했다. 이번 협약으로 3개 대학은 지난 70여 년간 주력해온 수·해양 자원에 대한 부경대의 연구 노하우를 약학 및 한의학 분야와 접목하여 미래 성장산업인 해양바이오제약산업의 기반을 마련한다는 계획이다.

부경대는 부산 기장군에 조성한 녹색성장연구단지를 비롯 해조류연구센터, 해양바이오사업단, 미세조류은행, 약리실험실, 약초원, 임해연구시설, 수산질병종합병원 등을 확보하여 수·해양자원에 대해 특성화된 식의약 분야의 연구역량을 축적해왔다. <부경투데이>

PKNU, agreement on joint research for the development of new marine-bio medicines with Seoul National University and Kyung Hee University

PKNU actively set out to work on developing an innovative medical substance using marine organisms.

PKNU established an agreement on joint research with the college of Pharmacy at Seoul National University and the College of Oriental Medicine at Kyung Hee University on the 25th of March at the Palace Hotel in Seoul.

This was the first instance of national and private universities working collaboratively for the purpose of developing new medicines from marine organisms.

Through this agreement, PKNU and its partners are expected to work closely on conducting research & development for marine substances and new medicines. They will also share and take advantage of research resources and capabilities. 

To proceed with this project, PKNU and its partner have agreed that the universities should make the best use of research equipment and carry out state-run projects collaboratively.

Through this agreement, the universities are seeking to create the foundation of a Marine-Bio Pharmaceutical Industry by grafting PKNU‘s specialities in the research area of the marine resources for the last 70 years with pharmacology and oriental medicine. It is anticipated that the industry will be a growing market  in the future.

PKNU has been expanding its research capability in the development of foods and medicines by specializing marine resources. PKNU also operates a research complex located in the Guijang area, seashore research facilities, and a general hospital for marine disease.
