미국 콜럼버스주립대학 학생들, 14일 동안 부경대서 ‘열공’

콜럼버스주립대학 학생과 교수 18명이 부경대를 방문, 13박 14일 동안 부경대생들과 교류했다.
이들은 5월 23일부터 지난 6월 5일까지 부경대에 머물면서 ‘PKNU-CSU Joint Study Program(부경대-콜럼버스주립대 간 공동학술프로그램)’에 참가했다.
미국 콜럼버스주립대학 Patrick Hogan 교수와 하종욱 교수의 인솔로 온 백안의 학생들은 부경대 경영대 학생 21명과 8개 조로 나뉘어 다양한 프로그램에 참여했다.
부경대 국제통상학부 최순권 교수로부터 ‘한국경제의 이해’를 주제로 한 특강을 시작으로 조별 토론 및 발표수업을 통해 서로 전공에 대한 지식 교류를 했다.
이들은 부경대생들과 함께 경주를 방문하는 등 한국 역사 탐방 기회를 가졌으며 사물놀이 체험 등 다양한 문화체험 기회를 가졌다. 울산현대자동차, 울산현대중공업, 포항 포스코도 방문, 한국의 산업 발전상을 견학하기도 했다.
최순권 교수는 “외국 학생들이 장기간 방문해 서로 학문 교류를 한 이번 사례는 매우 이례적”이라면서, “해외학생과의 학문적 교류 기회를 제공하기 위해 해외 대학과의 교류를 확대할 계획”이라고 말했다. <부경투데이>

18 Columbus State University students and professors visited Pukyong National University for 13 nights 14 days and exchanged their thoughts and experiences with PKNU students.
During the visit from May 23 to June 5, they participated in ’PKNU-CSU Joint Study Program (a joint academic program between PKNU and CSU).
Professor Patrick Hogan at CSU and Professor Jonguk Ha at PKNU led the students, grouping the students from CSU and 21 students from the College of Business Administration at PKNU into 8 groups, and taking part in various programs.
Starting with a special lecture by Professor Kwonsoon Choi of the Division of International Commerce, PKNU, they exchanged knowledge on their respective major through group discussion and presentation.
They also had an opportunity to visit historical sites such as Kyongju, and experienced Samulnori and other cultural activities. In addition to that, they went on a field trip to Hyundai Motors at Ulsan, Hyundai Heavy Industry at Ulsan, and POSCO at Pohang in order to have a glimpse at industrial development in Korea.
"It was a very unusual case that foreign students stayed for such a long time for academic exchange," said Professor Kwonsoon Choi.
