Professor Chang Ik Zhang Awarded Busan Marine Science and Technology Prize

△ 장창익 교수(해양생산시스템관리학부)
부경대학교 장창익 교수(해양생산시스템관리학부)가 7월 13일 (사)해양산업발전협의회 주관 제4회 부산해양과학기술상(학술부문)을 수상했다.
장 교수는 세계 최초로 해양생태계 기반 어업평가․관리 및 예측모델(IFRAME)을 개발, 국제 학술지 Fisheries Research에 발표하여 국제적 관심을 집중시켰고, 수산자원평가에 활용되는 순간자연사망계수 추정방법 및 체장기반 코호트 분석모델을 개발하는 등 국가위상 제고와 국제 수산과학의 발전에 크게 기여한 공로를 인정받아 이 상을 받았다.
(사)해양산업발전협의회는 해양산업계 현안들의 해결책을 찾고 해양산업의 발전을 위해 각종 프로젝트팀과 전략기획위원회를 운영하고 부산해양과학기술상 및 우수논문상을 해마다 수여하고 있다.<부경투데이>

On 13th of July, Professor Chang Ik Zhang at Pukyong National University (PKNU) was awarded the 4th Busan Marine Science and Technology Prize (academic field).
Professor Zhang developed IFRAME, which is the world’s first fisheries assessment, management, and prediction model based on marine ecosystem, and drew international attention by publishing it in Fisheries Research, which is one of the international academic journals. He also elevated national prestige and contributed to the development of international marine science by developing the estimation method of the instantaneous coefficient of natural mortality, which is applied in fishery resource assessment, and cohort analysis model based on the length.
MITO operates a number of project teams and the strategic planning committee to find solutions for issues in marine industries and bring development, and gives the Busan Marine Science and Technology prize and other prizes for excellent papers annually.<Translator ; Park Si Hyeong, heartfulmind@naver.com>
