‘건물 출입문 위쪽에 달려있는 비상등을 LED로 바닥에 설치한 제품, 승용차 내부의 온도를 자동으로 조절하는 장치, 계단을 오르는 휠체어….’
대학생들의 톡톡 튀는 아이디어들이 최근 열린 제8회 IE(Intelligent Electronics)경진대회의 상을 휩쓸었다.

부경대학교 전기공학과 이창열(26), 하태웅(26), 안기정(26), 최용현(27), 이수형(26) 학생팀은 이 대회에서 ‘전력선 통신을 이용한 LED비상구 안내 시스템’을 출품, 대상인 지식경제부 장관상의 영예를 거머쥐었다.
이 대상작품은 일반적으로 건물 출입문 위쪽에 설치되어 있는 비상구 안내등을 바닥에 설치하여 화재 발생시 대피를 쉽게 했고, 안내등을 종전 형광등에서 LED로 제안해 녹색기술을 구현했다는 점에서 호평을 받았다. 특히 평상시에는 광고판으로 활용할 수 있게 한 점도 높은 평가를 받았다.

같은 학과 권창근(25), 권희원(26), 김범기(23) 학생팀은 승용차 내부가 뜨거워지면 자동으로 차단막이 작동해 온도상승을 방지하는 ‘태양광 발전을 이용한 차량내부 온도상승 방지 시스템’을 출품, 에너지 절약 아이디어로 장려상을 받았다.
같은 학과의 최영걸(26), 유상엽(26), 김세훈(24), 전현수(24), 허재영(24) 학생팀은 일반 계단도 오르내릴 수 있는 휠체어인 ‘오토 라이딩 휠체어’를 출품, 장애인들의 편의를 제고한 생활 개선 아이디어로 평가받아 장려상을 받았다.
전국 대학생 및 대학원생을 대상으로 해마다 시행되는 IE경진대회는 산업현장과 밀착된 시스템을 설계하고 운용하는 경험을 통해 신기술 개발을 촉진하기 위한 행사다.<부경투데이>

PKNU (Pukyong National University) students swept the prizes in the 8th IE (Intelligent Electronics) Competition held recently with their brilliant ideas.
 
A team of Changyeol Lee (26), Taewoong Ha (26), Kijeong Ahn (26), Yonghyun Choi (27), and Suhung Lee in the Department of Electrical Engineering at PKNU won the grand prize, which is the Minister of Knowledge and Economy prize with ‘the LED exit information system using power line communication.’ 
 
This award-winning item is praised by its usefulness in easing access to the exit by installing the light on the floor rather than above the door and its green technology since the LED is used rather than traditional fluorescent light bulbs. 
 
Another team of Changgeun Kwon (25), Heewon Kwon (26), and Bumki Kim (23) in the same department won a participation prize with ‘the high temperature protection system in a car using solar energy generation.’ 
 
The other team of Youngkwol (26), Sangyeop Yu (26), Hyunsoo Jeon (24), and Jaeyoung Huh (24) in the department also won a participation prize with ‘the auto riding wheelchair’, which can go up and down the stairs.
The IE Competition is held annually for graduate and undergraduate students and the event is designed to accelerate the development of new technology through having students plan and manage a system closely related to industrial sites.<Translator ; Park Si Hyeong, heartfulmind@naver.com>
