Pukyong Today 원어민 초청 외국어 학습 프로그램 개최 1월 3일부터 3주간 영어권 6개군 40명 학생 참가 한국문화체험 홈스테이 등 프로그램 실시

해외에 나가지 않고도 외국인 학생들과 함께 뒹굴며 영어를 배울 수 있는 프로그램이 인기를 끌고 있다.

부경대학교는 1월 3일부터 3주 동안 영어권 원어민 학생 40명을 초청해 한국 학생 40명과 함께 언어를 배우고 문화를 교류하는 프로그램을 진행한다.

한국 학생들은 외국인 학생들에게 각각 버디(Buddy)로 배정돼 부경대 기숙사에서 함께 먹고 자고 생활하며 서로의 언어와 문화를 배우게 된다.

전액 무료로 지원되는 이번 프로그램은 다도, 서예, 사물놀이, 태권도 등 한국 문화체험과 한국어강좌, 한국학 특강, 문화유적지탐방, 홈스테이 등을 진행한다. 특히 홈스테이 프로그램은 부경대 학생, 교직원들이 외국인 학생들과 1박 2일 동안 한국의 일반가정에서 함께 지내며 언어와 문화를 교류하는 기회를 제공한다.

이번 프로그램에는 부경대생 40명을 비롯, 미국 Northern State University, 호주 Univ. of South Australia, Griffith University, Queensland University of Technology, Deakin University, 스페인 Autonomous University of Barcelona, 노르웨이 Norwegian University of Science and Technology, 아일랜드 Univeristy of Limerick, 몰타 University of Malta 등 6개국 10개 대학 40명의 원어민 학생들이 참가한다.

부경대 국제교류원 정연호 원장은 “이 프로그램은 해외에 나가지 않고도 현지와 동일한 외국어 학습 환경을 제공해 인기가 많다.”면서, “이번 프로그램을 계기로 영어실력 향상 및 다양한 문화를 이해하는 계기가 되기 바란다.”고 밝혔다.<부경투데이>

It is due to give students many events to understand Korean culture including home-stay
 
This program is getting more popular because we do not have to go study abroad. We can learn English easily by spending a lot of time with them. Therefore, it is very helpful chance for us.
 
PKNU is executing this program by inviting foreign students in order to help our students improve their English speaking ability and to promote cultural exchanges.
 
After Korean students and foreign students become a two-person team, they start to stay the same room for three weeks from January 3rd. And then, they can learn each other’s culture, language, and so on.
 
PKNU prepares many kinds of event for free to introduce Korean culture to foreign students including dado, which means tea ceremony, calligraphy, samulnori, which is the traditional percussion quartet, and taekwondo. In addition, by learning Korean and Korean history, and by visiting historical sites, students can be interested in Korea. Among these programs, especially, home-stay program has opportunity to experience our daily life in the home for one day two nights.
 
40 foreign students taking part in this program came from Northern State University in America, University of South Australia, Griffith University, Queensland University of Technology, Deakin University in Australia, Autonomous University of Barcelona in Spain, Morwegian University of Science and Technology in Norway, University of Limerick in Ireland, University of Malta in Malta, and so on.
 
Jeong Yeon Ho who is a chief of the office of international relations at PKNU says that this program is really popular because it provides environment that is similar to English speaking countries to students who want to go study abroad. “I really hope that this program serves many opportunities to upgrade our students’ English conversation ability and to understand a variety of cultures.” he adds.<Pukyong Today>
