부경대학교(총장 박맹언)가 국내 처음으로 쿠바 하바나대학과 교류협정을 체결하는 등 중남미 지역대학과의 교류에 발 벗고 나섰다.

박맹언 총장은 이달 3일부터 15일간 페루, 칠레, 콜롬비아, 쿠바 등 중남미 4개국 6개 대학을 방문, 교류협정을 체결했다. 이를 통해 부경대는 2007년부터 아프리카에 수산 기술을 전수하여 좋은 반응을 얻고 있는 ‘수산새마을 운동’을 중남미지역으로 확대할 수 있는 교두보를 마련했다.

부경대는 페루 산마르코스국립대학과의 협정을 통해 수산과 광물자원개발 분야 연수프로그램을 부경대에 개설하여 페루의 경제 활성화를 돕기로 했다. 페루는 세계 3대 어장국으로 수산과 지하자원의 보고이다.

이와 함께 부경대와 남미 최대 수산자원국인 칠레 콘셉시온대학은 각 대학의 강점인 수산·해양분야를 비롯 광물자원분야 교류를 본격화하기로 했다.

박 총장은 남미 유일의 6․25참전국인 콜롬비아 로스안데스대학, 리브레대학과 잇달아 협의를 통해 대학 간 학술교류는 물론 부경대에 유학을 오는 학생들에게는 참전국 보은을 위한 특별장학금을 제공하기로 했다.

특히 부경대는 국내 대학으로는 최초로 중남미 지역 ALBA(볼리비안라틴아메리카 동맹) 중심국가인 쿠바의 하바나대학과는 해양생물을 이용한 신물질 공동 개발 분야의 연구교류를 활성화하기로 했다. 특히 쿠바에서 팔미로 볼리비아 대사 및 아기레 교육부 차관을 비롯한 6개국 ALBA 대사를 대상으로 부경대 설명회를 성공적으로 가졌다.

박맹언 총장은 “이번 방문을 통해 중남미지역에 교류거점대학을 확보했다.”면서, “우리의 선진수산해양과학을 전수하여 경제발전을 돕고 우리나라는 자원부국인 이 국가들의 자원개발에 참여하는 등 상생하는 길을 열어갈 것.”이라고 강조했다.<부경투데이>

Korean wave in the field of fishing industry is washing over in Central and South America due to PKNU.
- The president of PKNU, Park Maeng Eon, made an agreement with 6 universities located in Central and South America… PKNU will exchange much academic information in the field of fishery resources and mineral resources.

The president of PKNU, Park Maeng Eon, made an agreement with other local universities which are located in Central and South America including Universidad de La Habana in Cuba for the first time.

He went to 4 countries in Central and South America such as Peru, Chile, Colombia, and Cuba on July 3rd, and he visited 6 local universities for about 15days to make an arrangement with them during this period. Therefore, it is possible for PKNU to teach how to develop the field of fishing industry to some countries which is located in Central and South America. It can be called kind of Saemaeul Movement in the field of fishing industry, and PKNU has already spread it in Africa since 2007.

Among Latin American countries, PKNU decided to help Peru to develop its economy by making training program related in the field of mineral resources in PKNU through the agreement with Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos. Peru is considered to be one of the top three fertile fishing grounds in the world. Peru has long been famous for its fishery resources and underground resources.

In addition, PKNU made an arrangement with Universidad de Concepcion in Chile about the exchange of the academic information in the field of oceanography and mineral resources which are both universities’ field of specialization.

Moreover, PKNU made an agreement with Universidad los andes de Colombia and Universidad libre in Colombia which is the only nation in Latin American countries that took part in Korean War. Through these arrangements, PKNU decided to provide the special scholarship for the Colombian students who are going to study in PKNU to return the favor of the past.

PKNU is going to undertake a research to develop the new materials by using the marine lives with Universidad de La Habana in Cuba which belongs to ALBA which is a kind of the agreement for the partnership between Latin American countries for the first time among the local universities in Korea. Also, PKNU held a briefing session for the ambassadors of ALBA including Bolivia ambassador and the Vice-Minister of Education successfully in Cuba.

The president of PKNU, Park Maeng Eon, spoke as follows. “Through this visit, PKNU could get a chance to exchange much academic information with other major universities which are located in Central and South America. PKNU can teach the knowledge related the field of fisheries oceanography to them. In other words, we can contribute to the economic growth of them, and we can participate in their resources development. This is a win-win situation all around.” <Pukyong Today>
