세계 항구도시 대학들의 협의체인 세계항구도시대학연맹(PUL ‧ Port-city Universities League) 2013년 연차회의가 국립부경대학교에서 개최된다. 지난 2006년부터 시작된 PUL 연차회의의 한국 개최는 이번이 처음이다.

부경대학교에 따르면 PUL은 최근 영국 런던 사우스햄튼대학에서 열린 2012 세계항구도시대학연맹 연차회의에서 부경대학교를 2013년 연차회의 개최대학으로 확정했다고 17일 밝혔다.
부경대는 부산항에 인접한 지정학적 우위와 함께 국내 최대 규모의 수산해양과학연구단지를 비롯, 해양과학공동연구소 및 해양바이오프로세스연구단을 운영하는 등 해양과학분야의 뛰어난 연구역량과 인프라 측면에서 높은 평가를 받았다.
2013년 10월 부경대에서 개최될 PUL 연차회의에는 한국을 비롯해 영국 일본 캐나다 중국 인도 포르투갈 터키 이집트 베트남 브라질 등 11개국의 14개 회원 대학이 참가, 해양분야 학술ㆍ인적교류를 논의할 계획이다.
PUL은 항구도시에 위치한 세계 주요 대학들의 교수와 학생 등 인적‧학문적 교류를 위한 협의체다. 2006년 영국 사우스햄튼대학과 일본 요코하마국립대가 처음 교류를 시작한 이래 현재 항구 발전을 비롯한 세계 해양기술 혁신을 위한 최신 정보 교류의 장이 되어 왔다.
2013년 PUL 연차회의 유치 단장을 맡은 배동명 교무처장(조선해양시스템공학과 교수)은 “이번 총회 유치는 해양과학과 학문융합의 중심대학인 부경대학교의 국제적 위상을 반영한 것.”이라면서, “총회를 통해 해양과학분야 학문 교류는 물론 부산항 발전을 위해 노력할 것.”이라고 말했다.<부경투데이>
It is confirmed that the general assembly of Port-city Universities League,(here after referred to as PUL) will be held in Pukyong National University
-First time holding in Korea … 14 Universities from 11 countries will take part in this event.
The year of the 2013 yearly general assembly of Port-city Universities League will be held in Pukyong National University. For the fist time Korea was designated as a venue of the assembly which started from the last 2006.
According to PKNU, PUL announced in the University of Southhempton that PKNU will be the one organizing the 2013 yearly general assembly.
PKNU have ranked high in its great capacities of operating the research center of fisheries and the ocean sciences, which is the largest in Korea and other research centers relating to ocean sciences and ocean bio process as well as holding the cutting edge infrastructures.
The assembly in coming this October will be attended by 14 Universities from home and abroad including Korea, England, Japan, Canada, China, India, Portugal, Turkey, Egypt, Vietnam, Brazil etc. They will discuss many issues on maritime fields and personal exchanges as well.
PUL is a council for personal and academic exchanges among faculty members and students in the eminent universities around the world. Since the 1st exchanges between University of the southhempton and Yokohama National University in 2006, it has been an arena for the exchanges of the latest information on port development and technology renovation.
