부경대학교와 한국해양수산개발원(KMI)이 공동으로 대학원과정의 글로벌 해양수산학과를 부경대에 개설키로 했다.

이를 위해 김성귀 KMI 원장은 5일 부경대를 방문, 김영섭 부경대 총장과 대학본부 3층 회의실에서 학연협력 활성화를 위한 협약을 체결했다.

이날 협약을 통해 KMI와 부경대는 학과 운영에 필요한 재원을 공동으로 조달하여 학과를 운영키로 했다. 교원도 부경대 교수진과 KMI 소속 연구진이 공동으로 참여한다. 부경대는 KMI 연구진에게 겸임 및 초청교수의 직위를 부여한다.

교육과정은 △해양수산 경영 경제 △양식학 △수산식품가공학 △어업생산학 △해양수산바이오 △자원생물학 등으로 구성된다.

이번 대학원과정 개설은 1984년 설립 후 30년 동안 우리나라 해양수산 정책수립과 발전을 이끌어온 국책연구기관인 KMI의 연구 노하우를 대학 교육현장에 접목한다는 점에서 주목을 받고 있다.

특히 서울특별시 마포구에 있는 KMI가 내년 부산 이전을 앞두고 있어 해양수산 분야 세계적 학문 특성화를 자랑하는 부경대와 KMI의 협력이 어떤 시너지 효과를 낼 지 관심이 쏠리고 있다.
 
김성귀 원장은 이날 “해양수산 분야에 대한 KMI의 정책 및 현장 노하우와 부경대의 오랜 연구역량의 결합은 해양강국 실현과 해양수산업 경쟁력 강화를 위한 새로운 모색이 될 것으로 기대한다.”고 밝혔다.

이번 대학원과정 설립을 추진하고 있는 부경대 수산과학대학 장영수 학장은 “빠르면 오는 9월부터 대학원 과정을 개설할 계획으로 구체적인 커리큘럼 구성 등에 대한 실무 작업을 벌이고 있다.”고 말했다.

Pukyong National University and Korea Maritime Institute decided to start of joint graduate school course about global marine and fisheries in the university.
 
For the agreement, the president of KMI, Kim Sung-Gwi, visited the university on March 5, and concluded the agreement with the president of PKNU, Kim Young-Seup, in the 3rd floor of administration building for cooperation of connection between study and research.
 
Through this agreement, KMI and PKNU will support together for sources needed for running the course. Faculties are also from both facilities together. The university will give invited professor positions to the KMI researchers.
 
The course is made of management and economics of maritime-fisheries, aquaculture technology, seafood processing, productions of fishing, maritime-fisheries biology, and biology of resources.
 
The course is a big issue as that KMI, where is the national research and development institutes leading Korea's maritime-fisheries policies and development for 30 years, applies its research skills to spot of education.
 
In addition, KMI placed on Mapo-gu Seoul will move to Busan next year, so people are curious about the synergy effect with PKNU where has great specialized study in maritime-fisheries field.
 
Kim Sung-Gwi said that the cooperation of PKNU's research capacity and KMI's policy and know-how of field will show a new way of competitiveness improvement of oceanography and fisheries and the realization of powerful nation about fisheries and maritime.
 
"As the course will be started from September this year if it is possible, so we are doing business work such as specific curriculum making," Jang Young-soo, the president of fisheries science colleges, said as he is pushing ahead the course making procedure.<Pukyong today>
