동문들이 학과 후배들을 돕기 위해 장학기금 마련에 나서 눈길을 끌고 있다.

가장 먼저 나선 동문은 이달 말 정년퇴임하는 부경대학교 문덕홍 교수(65·기계시스템공학과).
16일 부경대에 따르면 이 대학 기계시스템공학과 출신 동문이자 교수로 40여년 재직해온 문 교수가 최근 2,100만원을 장학기금으로 기부했다. 이 돈을 시작으로 학과 동문들이 십시일반 기금을 모아 학과 발전을 위한 장학기금을 모으자는 것이다.
이 대학 기관학과(기계시스템공학과의 전신)를 2기로 졸업한 문 교수는 1978년 이 학과 교수로 임용돼 지금까지 40여 년 간 제자이자 후배들에게 기계 진동공학을 가르쳐온 학과의 ‘맏형’이다.
기계시스템공학과는 1968년 설립되어 선박 운용 해기사를 양성하며 우리나라 근대화의 기수였던 원양어업과 연근해어업의 ‘엔진’을 담당해온 기관학과가 시초다. 지금은 기계공학분야와 전기·전자 및 제어공학분야가 융합된 기계 정밀시스템의 설계·제작·운용 등을 중점적으로 교육하고 연구한다.
문 교수는 “역사와 전통을 자랑하는 학과의 지속적인 발전을 돕기 위해 장학기금을 만들기로 했다.”면서, “학과 졸업생이 2,100명인데 한 사람당 1만원씩 대신 기부한다는 의미에서 2,100만원을 종자돈으로 기부한 것.”이라고 말했다.
그는 대학본부에 의뢰해 ‘(재)부경대학교 발전기금’이 예금주로 된 장학기금 모금 계좌(수협 1410-0553-9159)도 만들어 기계시스템공학과 동문회(회장 조강구·14기)와 함께 모금에 나섰다.<부경투데이>

- A professor donated 21 million won for the creation of a scholarship fund
Alumni are trying to help their juniors by establishing a scholarship fund.
The one who took the first step is Moon Duk-hong (65), professor of the Department of Mechanical System Engineering, Pukyong National University, who is having his retirement at the end of this month.
According to PKNU, Professor Moon, who has been teaching for 40 years as a professor as well as an alumnus of his graduate department at PKNU, donated ₩21million as scholarship. With this as a base, he suggested to the alumni to chip in for the scholarship fund for the development of the department.
He is one of the department’s “old boys” who is a member of the 2nd graduating class of the Department of Engine, which is present-day Department of Mechanical System Engineering, and have taught as a professor of the same department for 40 years.
The Department of Mechanical System Engineering first opened in 1968 under the name Department of Engine. The department of that time trained marine officers and took an active part in the deep-sea and inshore fisheries that were at the forefront of modernization of Korea. The department is now focusing on educating and researching the design, manufacture and management of precision machinery system, the field in which machine engineering is combined with electrical, electronic and control engineering.
Professor Moon said, “I thought of this scholarship fund intending to facilitate the consistent development of our department which embodies history and tradition,”
“The department has 2,100 graduates, and it would be a great aid if each of everyone donates 10,000 won. And that is the meaning for which I have donated 21 million won first.” he added.
PKNU helped him set up a bank account for the fund, and he started fundraising activity with Jo Gang-gu, a member of the 14th graduating class as well as the chairman of the alumni association of the Department of Mechanical System Engineering. Account details are as follows:
