부경대학교 옆에 ‘향파문학거리’가 조성됐다.
부경대 대연캠퍼스 북쪽 후문 담장 골목길이 우리나라 대표적인 아동문학가 향파(向破) 이주홍(1906∼1987)의 문향(文香)을 맡을 수 있는 의미 깊은 장소로 탈바꿈한 것.
이 골목길 260m 구간에는 향파가 생전에 발표한 동시, 그림, 서예, 평소 발언록 등 33점이 액자로 제작돼 투시형 철재 울타리에 전시되고 있다.
한국 문학사의 큰 봉우리였던 향파는 1949년부터 부경대 전신인 부산수산대 교수로 재직하면서 이곳에서 1987년까지 40년 가까이 후학을 양성했다.
향파문학거리는 부경대와 부산 남구 대연3동주민센터(동장 오대현)이 공동으로 추진해온 사업이다. 이 사업은 지난해 4월 대연3동이 ‘주민자치회 지역공동체 형성사업’에 선정되면서 싹이 텄다.
그해 9월 향파문학거리 입구에 표지판이 설치됐고, 11월에는 향파의 대표 동시작품, 이정표가 설치됐다.
이어 최근 부산 남구청은 ‘향파문학거리’ 조성을 위해 소규모 주민숙원사업비 2,000만원을 배정해 이번에 액자를 설치하게 된 것이다.
향파문학거리 전시작품 선정은 부경대 남송우 교수(국어국문학과)가, 액자의 재질·형태 등의 디자인 도안은 부경대 홍동식 교수(시각디자인학과)가 맡아 봉사했다.
남구청은 올 하반기에 2,000만원의 예산을 추가로 확보해 액자 30여점을 더 제작해 전시할 예정이다.
향파문학거리 바로 옆에는 생전에 향파가 강의를 했던 종합강의동인 향파관이 있고, 그 앞마당에는 향파문학비도 서 있어 향파의 향기를 느낄 수 있다.<부경투데이>
Area to Honor Hyangpa’s Work
- Hyangpa Alley was created near PKNU’s Daeyeon Campus
A literary district, named “Hyangpa Alley”, was created at the outer wall of Pukyong National University.
An alley, along the wall near the northern entrance of Daeyeon Campus of PKNU, turned into a place with literary atmosphere of Lee Ju-hong, who used the pen name Hyangpa. He is Korea’s representative writer of children’s stories.
Along this 260m alley, 33 pieces of his work, including children’s poem, painting, calligraphy and his comment book, are framed and displayed on the iron fence.
Hyangpa, key figure in the history of Korean literature, became a professor at Busan Fisheries University, present PKNU, in 1949 and had taught literature for about 40 years until 1987.
Creation of Hyangpa Alley is a joint project of PKNU and Daeyeon3-dong Community Service Center in Nam-gu, Busan. When Daeyeon3-dong was selected for the national project on residents’ association and local community in April last year, the plan was first devised.
In line with this, a sign was installed at the entrance of the Hyanpa Alley in September of the same year, then his most famous poem and milepost in November.
Recently the district office of Nam-gu allocated KRW 20 million in the budget of community’s long-cherished project, making it possible to put the works at the Alley in frame.
PKNU’s Professor Nam Song-woo in the Department of Korean Language and Literature made an effort to select works to be exhibited in the Alley, and Professor Hong Dong-sik in the Department of Visual Communications Design to design the frames.
The district office is planning to display another thirty pieces of Hyangpa’s work after securing additional budget of KRW 20 million later this year.
Right beside the Alley and inside the Daeyeon Campus stands Hyangpa Hall, where he used to deliver lectures, and Hyangpa Literary Monument at the forecourt of the hall to remember his influence on Korean children’s literature. <Pukyong Today>
