부산광역시 남구에 있는 4개 대학인 국립 부경대학교 김영섭 총장과 사립인 경성대학교 송수건 총장, 동명대학교 오거돈 총장, 부산예술대학교 안원철 총장은 9일 오후 3시 부경대 내 부산행복연합기숙사 1층 회의실에서 ‘부산광역시 남구 소재 대학 간 상생 발전을 위한 교류협력 협약’을 체결했다. 이들의 교류는 최근 대학가의 ‘빅 텐트(Big Tent)’ 바람 속에서 같은 구(區)에 있는 가까운 대학들이, 그것도 국립종합대와 사립종합대, 그리고 사립전문대끼리 한 울타리 대학을 추구한다는 점에서 주목을 받고 있다. 부경대↔경성대↔동명대↔부산예술대는 버스로 10분 안팎이면 닿을 수 있다. 이런 지리적 이점을 십분 활용해 △부경대의 수해양·공학·인문사회분야, △경성대의 인문·예술·상경분야, △동명대의 특성화·산학실용교육분야, △부산예술대의 예술특성화분야 등 각자의 강점을 주고받으면서 대학 경쟁력 높이기에 나선 것. 이번 신학기부터 이들 대학 학생들은 부경대 안에 있는 부산행복연합기숙사를 공동 사용하기 시작했다. 올해 처음 생긴 이 기숙사에는 부산지역 18개 대학 학생들이 입주했는데, 부경대 등 남구 4개 대학 학생 수가 전체(1528명)의 88 %(1343명)로 가장 많다. 서로의 수업을 개방하고 학점을 인정하는 등 학부생 교류도 추진한다. 물론 도서관과 실험 실습실 등 학내 시설물도 서로 이용할 수 있다. 이어 교양교육과정 공동 운영과 행복연합기숙사생 대상 비교과 프로그램도 운영한다. 우수외국인 유학생 유치 및 외국인 유학생을 위한 교육과정 공동운영, 지역주민을 위한 평생교육사업도 공동 추진할 계획이다. 이날 김영섭 총장은 “같은 지역에 있는 이웃사촌끼리 힘을 합쳐 대학들이 안고 있는 여러 현안을 잘 해결해가자. 가깝기 때문에 협력 프로그램의 효과도 클 것으로 기대된다. 그 협력의 결실은 학생들에게 좋은 힘이 될 것.”이라고 말했다. 송수건 총장은 “지금까지의 다른 교류와는 달리 이번 남구 4개 대학의 교류는 근접거리에서 서로 돕는 장점이 있다. 대학의 패러다임 쉬프트가 일어날 것 같다. 서로 신뢰해서 좋은 결실을 맺을 수 있었으면 좋겠다.”고 말했다. 오거돈 총장은 “남구에는 4개 대학을 비롯 유엔평화공원과 부산박물관 부산문화회관 등 역사·문화시설들이 집중되어 있다. 우리가 힘을 합쳐 이 지역을 유엔평화공원을 중심으로 한 대학문화벨트로 만들어가자.”고 말했다. 안원철 총장은 “남구는 젊은이들의 열정이 가득한 도시다. 부경대·경성대 앞거리는 부산에서 가장 젊은이들이 많이 모이는 곳이다. 우리 지역이 예술특성화도시로 더욱 발전할 수 있도록 힘을 보태겠다.”고 말했다. <부경투데이> Kim Young-Seup, the president of the Pukyong National University and Song Soo-Guen, the president of Kyungsung private university, Oh Geo-don, the president of Tongmyeong university, and the president Ahn Won-cheol of Busan art college have made an agreement of an exchange cooperation for coexistent development of universities located in Namgu, Busan. Starting from this new semester, those students of four universities can use Busan Haeng-bok combined dormitory in Pukyong National University. Students of eighteen universities in Busan have moved into this newly built dormitory in this year, and the number of Pukyong students including four universities in Namgu shows the highest 88 % (1343) number of resident among (1528). They promote collegiate exchange programs, such as opening their lectures and transferring credits each other. The school facilities, such as libraries and laboratories can be used to interact each other. “Let’s solve problems together that neighbor universities in the same region are facing. We are all close, so we can expect a lot of synergy effects from this co-work programs as we are located so close to each other. The fruition of the partnership will give a good influence and motive” Kim young-seup, the president of Pukyong National University said. Song Soo-Guen, the president of Kyungsung private university added, “Different from the other exchange programs so far, there must be a great advantage of close-in location each other. We can expect the paradigm shift in college. I hope we can trust each other for the fine results.” The president Oh Geo-don mentioned “The cultural heritages such as UN memorial cemetery, the Busan museum, and the Busan art center are stand close in Namgu. Join forces, and make this area as cultural belt with UN memorial cemetery as the center.” “Namgu is fulled with passion of youths. The campus town of Pukyong National University and Kyungsung university is the most focused among the youths in Busan.
