새해 벽두부터 ‘부경대학교의 의과대학’ 설립이라는 핫 이슈가 언론을 통해 알려지면서 지역사회의 큰 관심을 받고 있다. 첫 보도는 1월 3일자 국제신문이었다. 이 신문은 이날 1면에 <부경대 ‘원자력 의료’ 특화 의대 설립 추진>이라는 제목의 기사를 실었다. 이 신문은 “부경대가 부산 기장군 방사선 의과학 일반산업단지(의과학산단) 내 핵의학에 특화된 의과대학 설립을 추진한다.”고 소개했다. 의과학산단 조성과 관련, 이 기사는 “기장군이 장안읍(147만8000㎡) 일대를 핵의학 메카로 만들기 위해 추진하는데 기장군이 3197억 원, 정부가 676억 원, 부산시가 414억 원을 각각 부담한다.”면서, “2010년 착공, 내년 준공할 계획이며, 올해 1단계 부지 조성이 완료된다.”고 말했다. 기사는 “(이 산단 부지에) 중입자가속기 치료센터와 연구용 원자로, 파워반도체 기반시설 등이 들어서며 산단 부지 중 일부(11만1470㎡)가 교육 시설 부지다. 부경대는 이곳에 의대를 설립한다는 복안.”이라면서, “일반 의대보다는 방사선 의학에 특화된 의사와 의과학자를 양성하는 일종의 ‘특수목적의대’를 지향한다.”고 전했다. 이어 기사는 “기장군은 지난해 11월 부경대와 의대 설립 위치, 면적 등을 논의했으며 이달 중 태스크포스(TF)를 만들어 설립을 본격적으로 추진할 계획.”이라고 말하고, “기장군과 부경대는 오는 3, 4월께 기장 의과학산단 내 의대 설립을 위한 양해각서(MOU)를 체결한다.”고 썼다. 같은 소식은 연합뉴스에 ‘부경대, 기장군 의과학 산단에 방사선 의과대학 추진’(1월3일)이라는 제목으로 보도됐다. 이어 노컷뉴스 ‘부경대, 방사선 의과대학 설립 추진’(1월3일), 부산mbc ‘부경대, 기장군 방사선 산업단지 의과대학 설립 추진’(1월3일), 동아일보 ‘부경대, 기장군에 핵의학 전문 의대 설립 추진’(1월7일) 등의 제목으로 각각 보도돼 뜨거운 관심을 반영했다. 부경대 의대 설립 관련 소식은 뉴스1이 지난해 11월 22일 ‘부경대, 기장군 의과학산업단지 내 의과대 설립 추진’이라는 제목으로 처음으로 보도했다. 김영섭 총장은 지난 2일 2020학년도 부경대학교 시무식에서 발표한 신년사에서 “새로운 십년, ‘부경 2030’의 비전을 선포하고 설렘과 기대의 마음으로 새해의 문을 힘차게 열어가자.”면서, 의과대학 설치를 새해 현안사업으로 발표한 바 있다. 한편 부경대는 오는 20일 오후 2시 동원장보고관에서 방사선 의과학대 설립 관련 정책세미나를 열고 사업 추진을 공식화한다. <부경투데이> Since the beginning of the new year, the hot issue of establishing 'a medical college of Pukyong National University' has been reported by the media, which has attracted great attention from the local community. The news regarding the establishment of Pukyong National University Medical College was reported for the first time on November 22 last year, titled 'Pukyong National University, Promotes the establishment of medical college in the medical science industrial complex of Gijang-gun'. President Kim Young-seup announced the vision of 'New Decade, Pukyong 2030 'at the opening ceremony of Pukyong National University on January 2, 2020. It was announced as a new year issue.
