국제신문은 1월 26일 부경대학교가 현재 ‘혁신창학’을 기치로 추진하고 있는 ‘매력적인 부경대 만들기’ 프로젝트를 자세히 소개했다. 이 신문은 이날 14면 전면에 걸쳐 연중기획 시리즈 <지역대 ‘업(UP)’ 총장에 듣는다> 두 번째 기사로 부경대 장영수 총장 인터뷰를 실었다. 각 대학 총장을 잇달아 만나 대학의 위기를 타개할 전략을 듣는 시리즈다. 인터뷰 제목은 ‘학생이 전공 만들고 AI가 커리큘럼 관리 … 미래형 시스템이 경쟁력’이었다. 이 기사는 “2시간 인터뷰에서 장 총장이 ‘학문융합’을 재차 강조했다.”고 전했다. 이어 “장 총장은 이것이 부경대의 ‘킬러콘텐츠’라고 했다. ‘창학에 준하는 혁신’이 이를 토대로 가능하다고 했다.”고 소개했다. 이날 기사의 방점은 부경대의 ‘학생설계 전공’이었다. 기사는 “전국 대학에서 유례가 없던 ‘학생설계 전공’이 오는 3월 봄 학기 자연과학대학에 시범 도입된다.”면서, “전통적인 학과 전공에서 벗어나 학생이 원하는 전공과목을 직접 만드는 것이 핵심.”이라고 썼다. 이어 “특정 단과대학의 학과로 입학하지만, 자신의 진로가 구체화되면 관련 전공과 교양 과목을 수강해 전문성을 쌓고 졸업하는 방식이다. 여태껏 국내 대학에 없던 새로운 전공이 만들어질 수도 있다.”고 전망했다. 이와 관련, 장 총장은 “기업과 협업으로 인공지능 플랫폼인 ‘데이터 기반 학생경력관리 시스템’을 구축했다. 학생이 원하는 진로 방향을 시스템에 적시하면 AI가 여기에 맞는 전공과목을 안내하고 비교과 과목(인턴·대외활동 등) 경력도 관리한다.”고 밝혔다. 최근 완료한 부경대의 학사구조 개편도 주요 이슈였다. 이 신문은 “서너 개의 학과를 하나의 학부로 엮는 것이 핵심. 현재 9개의 융합학부가 설치됐다.”면서, “복수전공과 부전공 등 비슷한 영역끼리의 융합은 많았지만, 학생이 직접 융합학과를 만들거나 연관이 적어 보였던 학과가 한 학부로 엮인 사례는 전국 대학서 찾기 어렵다.”고 소개했다. 장 총장은 “(학사구조 개편은) 사회가 요구하는 ‘4차 산업형 인재’ 육성을 위해 과감히 추진하는 시도”라고 인터뷰에서 강조했다. 장 총장은 대학의 재정 확충을 위한 복안으로 수익사업을 강조했다. 이 신문은 ▷용당캠퍼스에 학생과 교수의 벤처 창업, ▷UN평화문화특구와 연계, 세계의 음식을 맛보는 ‘세계푸드스트리트’ 캠퍼스 내 조성 등 장 총장의 전략을 소개했다. ▷ 인터뷰 전문 읽기 “클릭!!” On 26th January, the Kookje Daily News introduced in detail the 'Making an Attractive Pukyong National University' project that Pukyong National University is currently promoting under the banner of 'New beginning'. This newspaper featured an interview with Jang Young-soo, the president of Pukyong National University, as the second article in the year-round planning series <Hearing about 'Local University's UP' directly from university presidents> on all 14 pages on this day. It is a series to meet the presidents of each university one after another to hear the strategy to overcome the crisis in the university. The title of the interview is 'Students create majors and AI manages curriculum… System of the future is our competitiveness'. This article said, "In the two-hour interview, Jang reiterated the 'disciplinary convergence'. The article introduced, "President Jang said that it is the 'killer contents' of Pukyong National University. 'Innovation equivalent to creativity' is possible based on this." The article's focus on this day was the 'Student Designed Major' of Pukyong National University. The article said, "The 'Student Designed Major', which has been unprecedented in universities nationwide, will be introduced in the spring semester of this coming March at the College of Natural Sciences," and added, "The core of this is to deviate from the traditional department major and create the major subject that students actually want." It prospected, "Students enter the department of a specific college, but as soon as their career becomes shapes up, they can take related majors and liberal arts courses to gain expertise and graduate. New majors may be created that have not been operated in domestic universities so far." In this regard, President Jang said, "In collaboration with company, we built a 'data-based student career management system', an artificial intelligence platform. When the student's desired career direction is indicated in the system, AI guides the suitable major according to the subject, also manages the career of non-subject study (interns, extramural activities, etc.)." The recently completed academic restructuring of Pukyong University was also a major issue. The newspaper introduced, "The key is to integrate three or four departments into one division," and added, "Although there were many fusions of similar areas, such as double majors and minors, it is difficult to find cases in which a student created a convergence department or a department that seemed to have little connection was integrated into one division." In an interview, President Jang stressed, "It (academic restructuring) is decisive challenge to cultivate the '4th industrial talent' that society demands." President Jang emphasized the profit-making business as a plan for the university's financial expansion. The newspaper introduced the president Jang's strategies, such as ▷establishing a venture by students and professors on the Yongdang Campus, ▷and creating a 'World Food Street' on the campus where people can taste the world's food in connection with the UN Special Peace and Culture Zone. |
