“SUP의 매력, 시각장애인도 함께 즐겨요”

한국 최초로 부산에서 열린 APP 월드투어의 한국 대회에서 시각장애인들을 위한 SUP 체험행사를 기획한 지역 대학생들이 눈길을 끈다.
대회 장소인 부산 광안리해수욕장 인근 국립부경대학교 대외홍보대사 ‘블루’ 학생들은 대한패들서프프로협회(KAPP)와 부산시 수영구청 주관으로 9월 23일부터 3일간 열리는 ‘2022 APP WORLD TOUR BUSAN SUP OPEN’ 대회의 첫째 날 행사로 시각장애인 대상 SUP 체험행사를 열었다.
부경대생들은 보드 위에 서서 노를 저으며 바다 위를 누비는 스포츠 SUP가 최근 인기를 끌고 국내에서 첫 APP 월드투어가 열리면서, 시각장애인들도 SUP의 매력을 느낄 수 있도록 돕는다는 취지로 KAPP와 함께 부산맹학교 학생을 대상으로 이번 행사를 마련했다.
부경대 대외홍보대사 ‘블루’ 학생 15명은 23일 광안리해수욕장 백사장에 특별히 마련된 20m×10m 규격의 풀에서 부산맹학교 학생 13명과 함께 SUP 체험활동을 했다.
사전 SUP 교육을 받은 부경대생들은 20대에서 60대까지 다양한 나이의 부산맹학교 학생들과 1대1로 짝을 이뤄 이들의 이동은 물론 보드 위에서 패들링(노 젓기), 요가 등 활동을 재미있고 안전하게 즐길 수 있도록 곁에서 도왔다.
이번 APP 월드투어 한국 대회의 프로·아마추어 레이스, 일반인 레이스 등 다양한 SUP 관련 행사 가운데서도 이 행사는 해양스포츠를 접하기 어려웠던 시각장애인을 대상으로 SUP 체험 기회를 제공해 특히 의미 있다는 평가를 받았다.
부경대 대외홍보대사 ‘블루’ 회장 박보승 학생(안전공학전공 2학년)은 “시각장애인들이 평소 접하기 어려운 SUP 활동을 하며 물에 대한 공포심도 이겨내고 몸과 마음을 힐링하는 기회가 됐길 바란다.”라고 말했다. <부경투데이>

The idea of local university students who planned a SUP experience program for the visually impaired at the Korean competition of the APP world tour held in Busan for the first time in Korea is attracting people's attention.
On the first day of the '2022 APP WORLD TOUR BUSAN SUP OPEN', which is jointly organized by KAPP and Suyeong Office in Busan, the students of public relations ambassador, 'Blue' from Pukyong National University, near Gwangalli Beach, Busan, held a SUP experience program for the visually impaired.
Pukyong National University students designed for students from Busan school for the blind with KAPP to support visually impaired people feel the charm of SUP as the sports SUP, which stands on a board and paddles on the sea, has recently become popular and the first APP world tour is held in Korea.
On the 23rd, 15 students from Pukyong National University’s public relations ambassador 'Blue' joined a SUP experience program with 13 students from Busan school for the blind in a specially prepared 20m×10m pool on the white sandy beach of Gwangalli Beach.
Pukyong National University students who received SUP training in advance pair up with students of various ages from 20s to 60s from Busan school for the blind, and helped them to enjoy fun and safe activities such as paddling (rowing) and yoga on the board.
Among the various SUP-related events such as professional and amateur races and general races in the APP world tour Korea, this event was evaluated as particularly meaningful by providing an opportunity to experience SUP for the visually impaired who had difficulty in accessing marine sports.
Park Bo-Seung (2nd-year student in Safety engineering), the leader of Blue, Pukyong National University's public relations ambassador, said, "We hope that it was a good opportunity for the visually impaired to overcome their fear of water and heal their body and mind through SUP activities, which were difficult to try at other times." <Pukyong Today>
