국립부경대, 창학 100주년 개교기념식 개최

- 9일 대학본부 … 특별포상 수여 등

국립부경대학교(총장 장영수)는 5월 9일 오후 대학본부 2층 대회의실에서 창학 100주년 개교기념식을 개최했다.

이날 기념식에는 부산시 김광회 경제부시장, 부산상공회의소 정현민 상근부회장, 강남주, 박맹언 전 총장, 서영옥 총동창회장, 이승철 총동창회 명예회장, 이상조 전 총동창회장, 조형래 전 AMP 총동창회장, 진길호 AMP 총동창회장, 강의구 부산영사단장 등 내빈과 교직원, 학생 등이 참석했다.

국립부경대는 1924년 설립된 부산공업대학교와 1941년 설립된 부산수산대학교가 1996년 국립종합대학 최초의 통합으로 탄생한 역사가 있다.

국립부경대는 이날 기념식에서 연혁 역사 영상 상영을 비롯, 국내외 내빈들의 축사 및 축전 소개, 대학을 빛낸 100인 시상, 창학 100년사 전달 등을 통해 대학의 역사적 발자취를 소개하고 성과를 기념했다.

장영수 총장은 “1924년 시작된 역사의 첫 페이지가 무려 한 세기를 관통해 오늘에 이르렀다.”라면서, “오랜 역사 속에 축적된 특성화 역량을 바탕으로, 지역사회의 과제는 물론, 세계 인류의 숙원 해결에 앞장서는 글로벌 명문 대학으로 도약하겠다.”라고 밝혔다.

이날 이희영(유아교육과), 오철웅(자원생물학전공), 정원교(의공학전공) 교수 등 3명이 국내외 학술지에 우수한 논문을 발표하는 등 학문 발전에 이바지한 공로로 학술상을 받았다.

이어 김정환(휴먼ICT융합전공), 김광일(수산생명의학과), 지상원(기계시스템공학전공) 교수 등 3명은 창의적이고 열정적인 연구 활동으로 신진연구자상을 받았다.

노용석(국제지역학부), 권한상(신소재공학전공), 이정훈(금속공학전공), 채수종(공업화학전공), 김영석(환경지질과학전공), 서진호(기계시스템공학전공), 안세륭(경영학부) 교수 등 7명은 활발한 산학 공동연구와 기술이전 등의 공로로 산학협력상을 받았다.

이와 함께 대학발전공로자상을 비롯, 대학을 빛낸 100인 표창, 대학발전 및 동문유대강화 표창, 총동창회장상, 학생 및 직원 특별포상, 장기근속 교직원 포상 등도 진행됐다.

한편 이날 기념식에 이어 대학극장에서는 홈커밍데이 행사로 부경가족 한마음 음악회가 열렸다. <부경투데이>

PKNU held centennial founding ceremony

- special award ceremony and various events on the 9th at the university administration building

On the afternoon of May 9th, Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) held the centennial founding ceremony at the conference hall on the 2nd floor of the university administration building.

On this day, the commemorative event was attended by various guests and members of the faculty, including Kim Kwang-Hoe, deputy mayor of the economic department of Busan city, Jeong Hyeon-Min, vice chairman of the Busan chamber of commerce and industry, former presidents Kang Nam-joo and Park Maeng-Un, chairperson Seo Young-Ok from the alumni association, honorary chairperson Lee Seung-Cheol from the alumni association, former chairperson Lee Sang-Jo from the alumni association, Cho Hyeong-Rae, former chairperson of the AMP alumni association, Jin Gil-Ho, current chairperson of the AMP alumni association, and Kang Ui-Koo, director of the Busan consulate, as well as faculty, staff, and students.

Pukyong National University has a history dating back to the merger of Busan national university of technology, established in 1924, and the National fisheries university of Busan, established in 1941, into the first national comprehensive university in 1996.

During the commemorative event on this day, Pukyong National University showcased a historical video presentation, speeches and introductions from domestic and international guests, awards for top 100 individuals who brought honors to the university and the history of the university's 100 years, all aimed at introducing the university's historical milestones and commemorating its achievements.

President Jang Young-Soo said, "The first page of history, which began in 1924, has spanned an entire century to reach today," he continued, "Building upon the specialized capabilities accumulated throughout our long history, we will leap forward to become a globally renowned university that not only addresses the challenges of the local community but also leads in resolving the longstanding issues facing humanity worldwide."

On this day, three professors, Lee Hee-Yeong (child education), Oh Chul-Woong (major of marine biology), and Jung Won-Kyo (major of biomedical engineering), were awarded academic honors for their contributions to academic advancement, including presenting excellent papers in domestic and international academic journals.

In line with them, three professors, Kim Jung-Hwan (transdisciplinary studies on human ICT), Kim Kwang-Il (aquatic life medicine), and Ji Sang-Won (dept. of mechanical-IT system engineering), received the Research rookies award for their innovative and passionate research activities.

Professors Noh Yong-Seok (division of international and area studies), Kwon Han-Sang (dept. of materials system engineering), Lee Jeong-Hoon (major of metallurgical engineering), Chaw Soo-Jong (major of industrial chemistry), Kim Young-Seog (major of environment & geoscience), Seo Jin-Ho (major of mechanical system engineering), and Ahn Se-Ryoong (division of business administration) were awarded the industry-academic cooperation award for their active engagement in collaborative research with industry and contributions to technology transfer.

Along with these, various other awards were also presented, including the university development merit award, commendation for the 100 distinguished individuals of the university, commendation for university development and alumni networking strengthening, awards from alumni association chairperson, special recognition for students and staff, and long-term service staff recognition.
