국립부경대, ‘9개국 119명’ 부경국제계절학기(PKNU ISS) 개최
- 19개 대학 학생들 2~4주간 함께 기숙사 생활
- K-POP 댄스·한국요리·해양스포츠 등 문화체험 및 글로벌 강좌 수강

국립부경대학교(총장 배상훈)는 7월 20일부터 미국, 영국, 벨기에, 중국, 일본 등 9개국 19개 대학에서 온 외국인 학생 103명과 국립부경대 재학생 16명 등 총 119명이 참여하는 ‘2026학년도 PKNU International Summer School(PKNU ISS, 부경국제계절학기)’ 운영에 나섰다. 

국립부경대는 이날 개강식을 시작으로, 참가 학생들의 일정과 소속 대학의 학사 운영을 고려해 4주 과정(7.20.~8.14.)과 2주 과정(8.3.~8.14.)으로 나뉘어 프로그램을 진행한다. 국립부경대 국제교류부는 해외 참가자들의 원활한 입국과 안정적인 생활 적응을 돕기 위해 김해국제공항과 부산역 픽업 서비스, 국립부경대 재학생들과의 기숙사 생활, 버디 프로그램 등 맞춤형 서비스를 제공한다.

참가 학생들은 21일부터 도자기 빚기, K-POP 댄스, 한국요리 만들기, 서예, 태권도, 전통문화 체험, 막걸리 빚기, 템플스테이 등 다양한 한국 문화 프로그램을 체험한다. 

이와 함께 해운대 블루라인파크, 씨라이프 부산아쿠아리움, 부산엑스더스카이, 송도해상케이블카, 부산 시티투어 등 부산의 대표 관광·문화 명소를 방문하고, 캠퍼스 인근 광안리에서 래프팅보트와 바나나보트 등 해양스포츠를 체험하며 부산의 해양 문화를 경험할 예정이다.

학생들은 문화 체험과 함께 영어로 진행되는 글로벌 강좌도 수강한다. 4주 과정에는 ‘국제관계의 이해’, ‘스포츠 스쿠버다이빙과 수중환경의 이해’, ‘기초한국어’ 등의 선택 강좌와 필수과목인 ‘글로벌문화Ⅱ’가 개설됐다. 2주 과정 학생들은 ‘K-컬처로 배우는 한국어’와 ‘글로벌문화Ⅰ’을 수강한다. 학생들은 최대 4학점까지 취득할 수 있다.

지난 2009년 처음 시작된 PKNU ISS는 매년 국내외 학생들이 참가하는 국립부경대의 대표 국제 교류 프로그램이다. 해외 학생들에게는 한국의 언어와 문화, 부산의 해양환경을 직접 경험할 기회를 제공하고, 국립부경대 재학생들에게는 다양한 국적의 학생들과 교류하며 글로벌 역량을 강화할 기회를 제공하고 있다.

국립부경대는 이 프로그램을 통해 참가 학생들이 강의실에서 전문지식을 쌓는 것은 물론, 한국의 전통과 현대 문화, 부산의 해양 문화를 폭넓게 경험하며 상호 문화 이해와 국제적 감각을 높일 수 있도록 지원할 계획이다. <부경투데이>

Pukyong National University, Hosts Pukyong International Summer School (PKNU ISS) for ‘119 Students from Nine Countries’

― Students from 19 universities to live together in campus housing for two to four weeks

― Participants to take global courses and experience Korean culture through K-pop dance, Korean cooking, marine sports, and more

 

Pukyong National University (President Sang-Hoon Bae) launched the 2026 PKNU International Summer School (PKNU ISS) on July 20, bringing together 119 participants: 103 international students from 19 universities across nine countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Belgium, China, and Japan, as well as 16 Pukyong National University students.

 

Following the opening ceremony, the program will be offered in two sessions―a four-week course from July 20 to August 14 and a two-week course from August 3 to 14―to accommodate participants’ schedules and the academic calendars of their home universities. To facilitate the international students’ arrival and adjustment to life in Korea, Pukyong National University’s Office of International Affairs is providing customized support, including pickup services at Gimhae International Airport and Busan Station, shared residence-hall accommodation with Pukyong National University students, and a buddy program.

 

Beginning July 21, participants will take part in a wide range of Korean cultural activities, including pottery making, K-pop dancing, Korean cooking, calligraphy, taekwondo, traditional cultural experiences, makgeolli brewing, and a temple stay.

 

In addition, participants will visit some of Busan’s most iconic cultural and tourist attractions, including Haeundae Blueline Park, SEA LIFE Busan Aquarium, Busan X the Sky, Songdo Marine Cable Car, and the Busan City Tour. They will also experience Busan’s maritime culture by enjoying marine sports such as rafting boats and banana boats at Gwangalli Beach, located near the university campus.

 

Alongside the cultural activities, students will take global courses taught in English. The four-week program offers elective courses such as Understanding International Relations, Sport Scuba Diving and the Underwater Environment, and Basic Korean, as well as the required course Global Culture II. Students in the two-week program will take Learning Korean through K-Culture and Global Culture I. Participants can earn up to four academic credits.

 

First launched in 2009, the PKNU International Summer School (PKNU ISS) has become one of Pukyong National University’s flagship international exchange programs, attracting students from Korea and around the world each year. The program provides international students with opportunities to experience the Korean language, Korean culture, and Busan’s unique maritime environment firsthand, while offering Pukyong National University students valuable opportunities to strengthen their global competencies through interaction with peers from diverse cultural backgrounds.

 

Through the program, Pukyong National University aims to help participants not only build academic knowledge in the classroom but also gain a broad understanding of Korea’s traditional and contemporary culture, as well as Busan’s maritime culture.
