Professor Changik Jang Awarded Busan Marine Science and Technology Prize
Arranged by Marine Industry and Technology Organization (MITO) Awarded in Academic Field
On 13th of July, Professor Changik Jang at Pukyong National University (PKNU) was awarded the 4th Busan Marine Science and Technology Prize (academic field).
Professor Jang developed IFRAME, which is the world’s first fisheries assessment, management, and prediction model based on marine ecosystem, and drew international attention by publishing it in Fisheries Research, which is one of the international academic journals. He also elevated national prestige and contributed to the development of international marine science by developing the estimation method of the instantaneous coefficient of fishing mortality, which is applied in fishery resource assessment, and Cohort analysis model based on the length.
MITO operates a number of project teams and the strategic planning committee to find solutions for issues in marine industries and bring development, and gives the Busan Marine Science and Technology prize and other prizes for excellent papers annually.<Translator ; Park Si Hyeong, heartfulmind@naver.com>
