Student from Turkey at PKNU Awarded for Paper
Cancer Treatment Research Receives Worldwide “Recognition.”
Fatih Karadeniz, a student in a doctoral degree program at PKNU was awarded for his paper in a Japanese international academic conference.
A Turkish student in a doctoral program of the Department of Chemistry at Pukyong National University (PKNU) was awarded for his paper at the 24th Chitin and Chitosan Symposium, which was held on 13th and 14th of July in Tokyo, Japan.
Fatih Karadeniz, who graduated in Molecular Biology from Istanbul Technical University in Turkey and came to PKNU in 2007 in order to major in Biochemistry, was awarded for his paper titled “Apoptotic activity of aminoderivatized chitooligosaccharides in AGS human gastric adenocarcinoma cells” at the symposium, in which about 300 participants from 10 countries participated.
He was recognized by his contribution to the field of cancer treatment through researching on suppressing Bcl-2 (B-cell lymphoma 2), which is a proto-oncogene that plays a key role in proliferating tumor cells, in order to increase the cancer suppression effect of chitooligosaccharides.<Translator ; Park Si Hyeong, heartfulmind@naver.com>
