A huge wooden painting which is being displayed in the Jang Bogo Hall in PKNU is coming up in conversation
- ‘Changpogo Memorial Foundation’ donated this painting to pray for appearing the second Jang Bogo

The large painting made of wood which is being displayed in the lobby on the first floor in Jang Bogo hall in PKNU is catching many visitors’ eye.

The chairman on the directors of Changpogo Memorial Foundation, Kim Jae Cheol, donated this wooden painting to PKNU to wish that all of the citizens living in Busan which is the gateway to Northeast Asia and students in PKNU are to head for the world through the ocean, and to be the second Jang Bogo.

This painting was made by Yuk Kwang Jeong who is 65, and he is called the master of the artistic handicraft in China. It took aroud one year to complete this painting by him. It is 5 meters wide and 1.75 meters long and 0.2 meters thick.

The title of this art work is ‘The Song of the Great Sea at the Shining Dawn’.

This art work was made of a lime tree. In this painting, that trading ships are slipping through the wild waves was expressed vividly by being described in three dimensions. In addition, this great piece of art is showing the continuous challenging and the excellent vigor to many students.

PKNU is the second place where this painting is displayed. This painting was exhibited in the Jang Bogo Hall which is located Wando Jeollanam-do for the first time in November in 2008.

One of the officials of Changpogo Memorial Foundation spoke as follows. “We had to spend about 150 million won to make and set up this painting. However, it is one of the most valuable art works because it was produced by Yuk Kwang Jeong who is called the master of the artistic handicraft in China.” <Pukyong Today>
