PKNU is coming up in conversation for attracting mega-sized national projects in rows.
- Ranked 1st in ‘educational competence building project’ in University and LINK project in Southeast provinces respectively.
PKNU’s prestige soared by hosting mega-sized national projects.
PKNU made a splendid achievement of being designated as university carrying on ‘educational competence building project’ for universities, the project for nurturing the leading university collaborating the industries, the project for supporting the establishment for the innovative engineering education center, the project for nurturing scientists especially for women and the project for the promoting local industries.
For those 5 projects to be fulfilled, aggregate 10.19 billion won was earmarked to PKNU in this year.
First of all, on the last 13th of April, PKNU was designated as the university undertaking ‘the 2012 educational competence building project’ by Ministry of education, science and technology so that it will receive 4.22billion won, which is the largest amount the Ministry has given yet. With that grant, PKNU will implement various programs for strengthening its students’ competence such as scholarship, the program helping students to get jobs etc...
Earlier 28th of March, It was also designated as the university which is technologically innovative example practicing collaboration with industries in southeast provinces. As a result, PKNU will be given 4.25 billion won which is the largest amount of grant in the southeast provinces, PKNU will support the projects nurturing skilled technicians and developing source technology and innovative technology and make these technologies commercialized.
According to the project results, average 4~5 billion won will be given to PKNU annually for the 5 years.
The projects nurturing women technicians will also be promoted. As PKNU with the largest number of female students has operated the project nurturing women technicians in southeast province since 2006, the same projects will be fulfilled by PKNU given 500miilion won on the yearly basis until 2016.
Furthermore, engineering education center which has been operated since 2006 was designated as the 2nd stage of the engineering education center so that it will receive 200million won annually and M.VES will be given 1 billion won this year for designation of the 2nd stage local industry promotion.
As PKNU operating mega-sized national projects, it took fist ranking in terms of employment rate among national universities around the nation in 2009 and first place in employment rate among national universities in 2010 and ranked top 10 in employment rate among 4-year universities in Korea, which is excellent performance.<Pukyong today>
