- About patients’ cognition of clinical nutrition service
Professor Eun-Soon Lyu (Department of Food and Nutrition) has been selected to receive the grand prize of a scholarship field from The Korean Dietetic Association.
The thesis was about patients’ cognition of clinical nutrition service.
This paper was a result of a survey analysis about clinical nutrition service toward 1260 patients who are in 45 hospitals that have at least 400 beds.
The clinical nutrition service means that the clinical dietitian checks a patient’s nutritive conditions and conducts nutritive education and gives advice about how to make an appropriate plan for nutrition treatment.
The survey shows that only 41.7% of patients had experience of nutritive advice and education which are part of the clinical nutrition service, and it shows that more nutritive education and advice is desperately needed.
’Nutrient management is important to control diseases’, ’Diet cure is needed for diseases’, ’The call center of nutrition is needed’, ’I’d like to pay for nutrient management service’, and ’The system of private care for nutrition is required".
"The proper clinical video service will work towards improving the effects of cure and decreasing medical expenses. To conduct the service that the patients want, the government needs to use their power such as employing and allocating clinical dietitians, depending on the hospital’s capability," the professor said.<Pukyong today>
