Living in Korea - Gyeongju and POSCO
(DJURAEV SHOKHRUKH Uzbekistan, Business management in PKNU)

I’m DJURAEV SHOKHRUKH from Samarkand Foreign Language University in Uzbekistan.

Korea is a really interesting country. Before I came to Korea, I was surprised that Korea had developed its economy so fast. Many corporations came to Uzbekistan to run their business and the number of people who want to learn Korean language is growing.

After I came to Korea, I could see the reason why Koreans developed their country so fast through a tour through POSCO factory. I was impressed by a huge metal plate for building ships or cars, and I could feel that the economical development of Korea is amazing once again.

At the amusement park with my friends, I could see the development too. The rides there were all amazing to me.

However, the most impressive place in Korea was Gyeongju. I’ve heard if any tourist comes to Korea, the one place they should go to is Gyeongju. So I planned to go to Gyeongju with my friends from other countries. We went there by train and had a look around Gyeongju on bicycles.

In Gyeongju, I could see Korean traditional temples. We saw so many places such as Bulguksa, Cheonma-chong, and Cheomseongdae and we could see another style of Korean buildings, not just modern, but truly traditional. It was a fresh and special experience to see Korean’s old life, because before I visited Gyeongju, I had only seen the modern way of life in Korea.

Life between Uzbekistan and Korea has many similarities, such as older people have a meal before younger people, and we have a similar process for funerals. The trip to Gyeongju made me more familiar with Korea.
