| The story of the university development fund that had been denied 3 times by the university - School parents of a Pukyong National University student donated 2 million won The university development fund which was denied 3 times by the university was finally accepted, and many people in Pukyong National University have been touched by this story. Two months ago, Pukyong National University noticed that the parents of a student wanted to donate money for university development. The father, Mr Lee (57 years old), who has a physically disabled son was touched because of the university's administration system that considers students with disabilities, so he said that he wanted to donate 2 million won. However, the problem was Mr. Lee is a hearing-impaired person and also a recipient of a basic living allowance. The head of the center for disability service, Seo Dong-Chul, said that he attempted to politely dissuade Mr Lee from donating the fund because he knows that Mr. Lee's financial circumstances are not very good. However, Mr. Lee visited the center for disability service on May 30th with 2 million won in his hands. He said he was moved by Kim Sang-Ho who is working for the center because he talked with him for over two hours about the inconveniences for students with disabilities with kindness and patience. Mr. Lee could tell how much the university cares about students with disabilities, so he wanted to donate the money to improve the circumstances for students in the university. "Even though the amount of money is quite small, I hope it will help to improve PKNU students' school life. My son is studying well on a scholarship from the university, so I really wanted to help and thank this university. To share the benefit we are being granted now, I even contributed some money from my son's part time job salary," he said. Finally, Pukyong National University decided to accept the fund gratefully. Seo Dong-Chul, the head of the center for disability services, said he was touched by Mr. Lee becausehe thinks about his neighbors who are in need, even though even his economic circumstances are not very good. The fund will be used wisely.<Pukyong today> |
