‘A Professor and His Students Hit the Jackpot’ They are in Department of Materials System Engineering: Professor Cho Sang-Myung (59 years old), and his students Jeon Jae-Ho (29 years old, second year of doctor’s degree in the department) and Byun Jae-Gyu (29 years old, second year of doctor’s degree in the department). They made contract about technology transfer of ’Filler Metal Forming Delivery Device for TIG Welding’ to G.E.C (CEO Yoon Seok-phil, placed in the sixth road, Soju industrial complex, Yangsan) which is plant manufacturing corporation. According to the contract, the inventers of this technology will be given deposit of one hundred million won and 0.8%~30% regular engineering fee depends on the products using the technology. Professor Cho, who is a representative inventer, distributes 50% of inventer’s share to affiliated graduate students for share of result. Professor Cho will get 50% of deposit, Mr. Jeon will get 30%, and Mr. Byun will get 20% from the deposit. Additional royalty will be also given to them. This technology is about device patent for welding with c-type strip which is brand new welding rod what never has been existed before. It helps to innovatively raise productivity of TIG welding which is known as the cleanest welding as it doesn’t make any fire or exhaust gas. In addition, additional profit in the future is expected as related industries see the value of the technology as 1 trillion won. "This technology has huge value for practical use as it can be used not only for Clad Welding what thinly spreads special alloy on inside of steel pipe for preventing abrasion and corrosion, but also for 3D metal printing which is expected to totally change manufacturing industry board," the professor said.<Pukyong today> |
