- the first case in Busan research & development special zone…tax exemption benefit

Pukyong National University Fisheries Processing Research Center(the head - Cho Young Je, department of Food Science & Technology) has been designated as a laboratory corporation by Ministry of Science, KT and Future Planning.

A laboratory corporation is a type of corporation 20% of capital is invested into and established in a research & development special zone to industrialize technologies which public research institutes like universities or academy-industry cooperative technology holding companies possess.

Pukyong National University Fisheries Processing Research CenterCo.,Ltd. founded by Pukyong National University Technology Holding Company Co.,Ltd. will be located in engineering building #8 in Youndang campus of PKNU.

Exemption of corporate and income tax(national tax) up to 100% for 3 years and 50% for the following 2 years and property tax(local tax) up to 100% for 7 years and 50% for the following 3 years will be given to the designated laboratory corporations as benefits. And also acquisition tax is exempted.

Pukyong National University Fisheries Processing Research CenterCo.,Ltd. owns an excellent patent technology called ‘quick formula of fish sauce using grinding processing and middle temperature fermentation.’

This laboratory corporation produces and sells its premium fish sauce ‘PKNU fish sauce.’ No fish smell, low histamine content and pure form of fish sauce are all of its distinctive characteristics. Especially its histamine content is below 100ppm which is not up to 400ppm, the standard of Codex Alimentarius Commission.

This corporation is planning to introduce high-quality new products of conventional salted seafood through scientifical manufacturing method such as fermented salted seafood and canned salted seafood with low salt content, which is expected to create high added-value.

Pukyong National University Fisheries Processing Research Centerhas been designated as a laboratory corporation with 2 other corporations of Busan National University. This designation is the first case in Busan research & development special zone.

These 3 corporations applied for designation of laboratory corporation according to ‘special law on promoting research and development special zone’ and achieved the certification of laboratory corporation from Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning after consideration by the INNOPOLIS Foundation.<Pukyong today>
