Daeyeon Campus Continues to Evolve Based on the Total Development Plan on Sports Facilities of Daeyeon Campus, the Division of Facility of Pukyong National University is carrying forward the business to gather scattered sports facilities in one place and build new ones. The plan aims to make the southeastern part of the campus a place for university members and local residents by gradually constructing a sports complex. The tennis courts were firstly relocated to the site, and then the existing sports field will be improved before the total sports complex is set up. Due to the construction plan of Convergence Engineering Building on the tennis court site, the courts were successfully moved to one side of the sports field. Six tennis courts and one court for backboard practice were built on the new place. The University proceeds to next step to improve sports field during the winter vacation. To minimize interference on education environment caused by dust and noise and secure the safety of students and university members, box seats and the stands including clubroom are completely removed during the vacation. The construction is ordered in December 2015 and will be completed next March. After the demolition work on this 26,960㎡ site, the University is planning to spend 3 billion won from the government expenditure to complete an artificial turf soccer field, six tracks paved with elastic material, a basketball court, a multi-purpose stadium, the stands and parking lot capable of accommodating 130 vehicles by the end of the next August. The last step, sports complex construction, will start in 2017. With government expenditure of 18 billion won, multi sports facility including gymnasium, swimming pool and fitness center will be established on 6,000㎡ site. Meanwhile, eleven Departments of College of Engineering in Yongdang Campus will move to the Daeyeon Campus after the Convergence Engineering Building is completed. The groundbreaking ceremony of the building was held at the site beside Baekyeong Hill on 30 November 2015 with the attendance of President Kim Young-seup. The building with thirteen stories above ground and one below will be completed in June 2018. Total building area is 16,500㎡. <Pukyong Today> |
