The First Specialized MOT School in Busan

Pukyong National University opened the door of the first Specialized Graduate School Management of Technology (MOT) in Busan.
The opening ceremony was held at 2pm on 3 March in the Engineering Building #3 at Yongdang Campus of PKNU, and was attended by members of PKNU and eminent persons from different backgrounds, including President Kim Yeong-seup and members of the academic board, Director of Korea National Maritime Museum Son Jae-hak, President of Busan Techno Park Kim Tae-kyung, Chief of the Busan Rgional Headquarter of Small & medium Business Corporation Kim Tae-gyeong, and President of the MOT students association Gang In-cheol who is also the CEO of ELSCOM.
The Specialized Graduate School MOT aims to cultivate leaders and experts with engineering-based management capacity.
The school operates advanced education program in MOT with yearly support of the government expenditure of 700 million won for 5 years. A hundred students who are admitted and complete the curriculum will be granted the Masters’ and Doctors’ Degree in Management of Technology when they graduate.
“We will do all we can do to produce academically and professionally qualified individuals to meet the needs of companies for their R&D strategy and technical commercialization,” Director Ock Young-seok, professor of the Division of Systems Management and Engineering at PKNU, said firmly.
In line with that, the school’s educational objectives were set: to boost the industry’s capacity through technical revolution in ICT convergence and support its R&D business; to establish a network of MOT across the East Asian region.
The MOT school is PKNU’s second specialized graduate school after the Specialized Graduate School Science & Technology Convergence that opened in 2014, which carries out the first advanced education program in Korea on multidisciplinary research in marine bio and light emitting diode (LED). <Pukyong Today>
