PKNU leads the development of female engineers in the southeastern area.
- Future Department ’R-WeSET Project’ selected as the Southeastern Regional Authority.

PKNU was selected as the Southeast authority organization in 2017 to promote the advancement and utilization of female talents in science and engineering (R-WeSET).

As a result, PKNU will provide 2.11 billion won from the government by 2021 to raise female science and technology talents and run various educational programs to increase the utilization of female labor force in science and technology.

There are 26 companies including Pusan National University, Silla University, Ulsan National University, Inje University and local self-governing body such as Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongsangnam-do and Renault Samsung.

PKNU Science and Technology Center (Leader Yoon Jong-tae, professor of Department of Graphic Arts Information Engineering) promotes the experience and education programs for female middle and high school students and college students in Busan, and manages customized job programs and career development programs to train women in the Southeast region.

This project focuses on fostering female talents in the field of science and engineering, focusing on the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, Korea Research Foundation and the Korea Women’s Science and Technology Support Center. PKNU has been selected both of area and region for this project.

PKNU was selected by the Ministry of Education in 2006 as a support project for female college students in engineering education, and has been continuously selected for the WISET operation program for women in 2012. PKNU has been striving to nurture female talents in science and engineering.

In particular, PKNU received the highest grade (S) in the final evaluation of the WISET project last year, and of course over 50,000 students and women in science and technology have participated in the project for the past five years. The female students who participated in the representative program ’Elite Girls’ made excellent achievements such as employment of 100% in major companies.

Meanwhile, Pukyong National University, Kyungpook University, Kunsan National University, Chungnam National University, and Chungnam National University were selected as Busan and regional projects group, and Korea University, Keimyung University, Dongseo University, Mokpo University and Jeju National University were selected as regional project group. <Pukyong Today>
