PKNU builds the 14th campus on the sea. This is the training ship of PKNU (President Kim Young-Seup), investing 59.2 billion won in the national budget. The training ship, which will be completed in December 2020, is 97 m wide and 15.4 m wide, with a gross tonnage of 3,990 t and a capacity of 160 people. It boasts of the largest scale of the fisheries training ship. It is the 14th training ship of PKNU, which has a history of 62 years as a substitute ship of 25 years old ferry Kaya (1,737 t). PKNU students will be able to use this new training ship and the ferry Nara (1,494 t), which was completed in September 2015, the two top ships ’Campuses on the Sea’, along with the exploration of the coastal waters and the ocean, opened a new horizon of shipboarding research and marine research. If you think about the narrow space of the previous training line, it is miscalculation. The new training line is characterized by a pleasant onboard environment. The height of the ceiling was raised considering the shape of the new generation, and the bed length was increased from 1.95 m to 2 m. The private area per person also doubled. The number of student cabinets used by 120 people has increased to 30 more than that of ferry Kaya because the cabin number has been reduced from 6 to 4. The sink outside the cabin was installed inside, and a computer was installed in each cabin. The new training ship is equipped with a ship automatic position control system (DPS) like ferry Nara, and it is also characterized by the fact that it has special ability not available in existing vessels and it is possible to conduct exploration activities in one place for a long time like △horizontal movement, △ wave and wind stopping on the sea. Professor Kim Jong-Hwa, director of the PKNU Ship Training and Operations Center, said, "The new training course will explore not only the students of PKNU but also students from around the world, including students from the World Fisheries Graduate School who came to PKNU to learn the sea." <Pukyong Today> |
