An exceptional collaboration between the South Pacific island nation Vanuatu and Pukyong National University gets attention. Vanuatu is an island nation with more than 80 islands in the South Pacific, rich in marine resources. President Obed Moses Tallis of Vanuatu promoted a new growth vision of national development through the development of the maritime industry in the video seminar room on the second floor of the Academic Information Center of PKNU on the morning of the 7th. As a result, he was recognized for his contribution to the economic development of Vanuatu and he received an honorary doctorate degree in fisheries science from Pukyong National University. President Obed Moses Tallis enthusiastically promote a variety of marine resources development models, including growth models that link fisheries and tourism with the long-term plan to transform the economy of Vanuatu, which has been dependent on the tourism industry for a long time. The president's enthusiasm led to efforts to get the advanced fisheries technology from Korea. Following the honorary doctoral degree ceremony, a special meeting for the development of the fisheries industry in Vanuatu was held with the participation of President Obed Moses Tallis in the conference room on the 3rd floor of Administration Building of Pukyong National University. President Obed Moses Tallis, first lady, the chief presidential secretary, foreign ministry, with these president's party and Professors from graduate school of Pukyong World Fisheries University including Dean Lee Sang-go, Professor Christopher Lyon Brown (aquaculture), Professor Md Aminur Rahman (fisheries resource management), professor Allan Dale Marsden (blue economy) and Professor Kim Do-hoon (technical management) attended the meeting. At the meeting, Dean Lee Sang-go emphasized the importance of training fisheries manpower through high quality education and professional training for the development of the Vanuatu fisheries. Dean Lee introduced, "Korea has also strengthened its fisheries development policy in order to lay the foundation of the economic development of the poor 1960s and 1970s, and made efforts to nurture fisheries manpower through quality education and professional training." For this, Pukyong National University is currently working on a test operating fisheries education system, including the World Fisheries Graduate Education System, △the status of overseas fisheries cooperation center, which is a specialized agency of international fisheries cooperation in the fisheries sector strengthening project of the developing country, △ Pukyong University introduced the project to support the establishment of the Solomon Islands Fisheries Science University. President Obed Moses Tallis said, "For the future of Vanuatu, a small Pacific nation, it is very important to cultivate human resources that can lead fisheries resources development as well as fisheries resources." and he added, "We will continue to cooperate with Pukyong National University by dispatching our students directly."
