Founded a consortium of 10 international universities including Pukyong National University Including Pukyong National University (Korea), Ton Duc Thang University (Vietnam), Technical University of Ostrava (the Czech Republic), Tonas Bata University (the Czech Republic), University of Southern Denmark (Denmark) Saxion University of Applied Sciences(Netherlands), Hasselt University (Belgium), National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (Taiwan), Trieste University (Italy), and Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (Poland), held a presidential meeting at Ton Duc Thang University on April 4 and announced the official establishment of UCI. UCI is a not-profit organization that develops networks among participating universities to enhance the quality of education, science and technology, and internationalization, and cooperates with teachers, students, and researchers to co-use educational facilities in universities. Universities with strengths in the fields of engineering, natural sciences, etc., in each country are linked internationally, thereby strengthening the quality of higher education and developing into a global university. As the first chairman of UCI, Le Vinh Danh, the president of Ton Duc Thang University, was appointed, and as the representative university of UCI's three special committees, Pukyung National University (academic committee), Hasselt University (research committee) and National Kaohsiung Science and Technology University(Exchange committee) were selected. UCI has set up a special committee, a coordinating committee, and a secretariat, and decided to hold an annual general meeting each year at the member universities, starting with the initiation ceremony and the first general meeting. "With the launch of UCI, we anticipate that universities with practical relevance in the field of specialized disciplines will be able to contribute to academic development as well as quality education services by establishing an international cooperation network," said president Kim Young-seup. Meanwhile, Pukyong National University concluded an agreement to operate the overseas dual degree program separately from Ton Duc Thang University after the UCI General Meeting on that day, and decided to provide an opportunity to acquire a degree in mechanical design engineering for the students of Ton Duc Thang University. <Pukyong Today> |
