Experts in drones · big data ... Opening a series of unusual majors has drawn public attention Pukyong National University announced on the 27th that it recently decided to establish a 'Convergence Major of Drones & Environmental Atmospheric Spatial Information' to foster future convergence talents who will lead the 4th industrial revolution. This convergence major has been created in cooperation with the Department of Spatial Information Engineering and the Department of Environmental Atmospheric Sciences. This major will be opened in the 2nd semester of 2021, and it aims to cultivate experts in drone technology utilization with comprehensive solution. Students in this major will learn drone operation programming, drone controlling, drone video shooting and editing, observation and surveillance with drones, drone photogrammetry, drone information security, and drone information application solution projects. Students can also obtain operator license for ultralight flight (drone) and a license for drone operating instructor. Prior to this, Pukyong National University opened 'Convergence Major of Social & Welfare ' in the spring semester of this year, and 'Convergence Major of Data & Science' in the 2nd semester. 'Convergence Major of Social & Welfare' is a major created by the combination of the Department of Public Administration and the Department of Early Childhood Education. The goal is to cultivate a new social welfare administrator who has two expertise both in social welfare and administration. 'Convergence Major of Data & Science' is a collaboration between the Department of IT Convergence and Application Engineering and the Department of Computer Engineering. The goal is to educate emerging data science scholars in the era of big data and train big data analysis experts. 'Department of Biomedical engineering & IT Convergence' has been opened in the 2nd semester of 2018. The Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Department of IT Convergence Applied Engineering cooperate to cultivate talents in the smart healthcare field. It consisted of 39 subjects, such as medical imaging in the Biomedical Engineering Department and Java application programming in the IT Convergence Applied Engineering Department. "The convergence major is a special attempt to nurture talent with the knowledge and capabilities of both departments by providing an opportunity to participate in the majors of both departments," Kim Chang-gyeong, the Head of Academic Affairs of Pukyong National University, said, "We plan to expand the convergence major in the future so that students can learn new technologies that lead the fourth industrial revolution in college." <Pukyong Today> |
