Pukyong National University’s decision on providing ’COVID-19 Special Scholarship’ Pukyong National University (President Kim Young-seup) announced on the 29th of July that 10 % of the actual tuition paid by students in the first semester will be returned in the form of the ’COVID-19 Special Scholarship’ to help students overcome the current COVID-19 epidemiological situation and support their studies. Pukyong National University recently prepared the ’COVID-19 special scholarship’ through recent 3 meetings between the Campus Operations and the Student Council, and the scope of the recipients, the amount of scholarships, and the timing of the payment have been decided by the 3rd Student Scholarship Committee. Accordingly, Pukyong National University will pay COVID-19 special scholarship to a total of 8,400 students who have paid tuition for the first semester this year. Pukyong National University actively reflected the opinion of the Student Council to decide on the payment targets, including students who are based on the start date of the second semester, students who graduate or leave after the first semester, and who are pending graduation. It is expected that students receive 10 % of tuition fees paid in the first semester in October cash up to 230,000 won without an upper limit. Pukyong National University estimates that it will take approximately 1.4 billion won to pay for this COVID-19 special scholarship and decided to secure financial resources for scholarships through belt-tightening, such as saving various business budgets canceled by COVID-19. "I hope this scholarship will help some students who are struggling with the spread of Corona 19," said Kim Young-seup, president of Pukyong National University, "We will do our best to overcome the difficulties caused by COVID-19 together with students by expanding students’ mixed classes to keep students safe and improve class quality." Choi Hyeok-joon, chairman of the Student Council of Pukyong National University, said, "I am grateful to my university for positive outcomes for my classmates through active arrangement. I hope that this will help our classmates to be encouraged, and hope COVID-19 will end soon, ensuring that our learning rights are guaranteed." <Pukyong Today> |
