PKNU, selected as a partner of the KOICA's Fisheries Master's Degree Program This project is to run a master's degree program for public officials, researchers, professors and lecturers at national and public universities, and workers from the related private businesses and public organizations in the fishery field for the development of sustainable fisheries in developing countries. The aim is to help develop the country by passing on Korea's advanced fisheries technology, which harden the foundation for national development through pelagic fishery, to developing countries, and to strengthen the globalization and international partnerships in the fisheries field. As selected for this project, Pukyong National University will receive 1.97 billion won in project cost and operate the International Fisheries Science Cooperation Course of the Graduate School of Global Fisheries by 2025. The goal is to educate aquaculture, processing and food safety of fishery products, fishery and both fisheries and resource management, and policy three times over four years to produce 15 masters in fisheries each time, a total of 45 students per class. Accordingly, Pukyong National University plans to proceed with the entrance examination for the first course of this project for developing countries until June, and beginning with the preliminary course in August, the school plans to start the course in earnest from September. Meanwhile, Pukyong National University started its first international fisheries science cooperation course in 2010 and has produced 189 masters in fisheries from 44 countries so far. <Pukyong Today> |
