Pukyong Today 미국 영사 초청 특강 개최 주제 국가 교류와 외교 역할 1월 11일 학술정보관 영상세미나실

부산 주재 타일러 알렌(Tyler Allen) 미국 영사 초청특강이 1월 11일 부경대학교 학술정보관 2층 영상세미나실에서 열렸다.

부경대 국제교류원(원장 정연호)이 동계 원어민 초청 프로그램의 일환으로 ‘국가 교류와 외교 역할’이란 주제로 연 이번 특강은 부경대생들과 6개국 외국인 학생 등 100여명이 참석했다.

이 날 열린 특강에서 알렌 영사는 국가 교류를 위한 협상․교섭 업무와 해외 자국민을 보호하는 등의 영사관 역할에 대해 설명하고 외교의 중요성을 역설했다.

알렌 영사는 “외교는 유연성과 독립성을 견지하는 것이 가장 중요하다.”면서, “해외에서는 여러분 개개인이 외교관으로서 문화적 네비게이션 역할을 할 수 있다는 점을 유의하기 바란다.”고 밝혔다.

한편 부경대는 지난 1월 3일부터 3주 동안 영어권 원어민 학생 40명을 초청해 한국문화 체험, 홈스테이 등의 프로그램을 진행하며 부경대생들과 함께 언어와 문화를 교류하는 행사를 진행한다.<부경투데이>

A lecture is held by inviting the American consular representative.
The topic is ‘cultural exchange between nations and diplomatic role’
This lecture holds in the image seminar room in the Academic Information Hall on January 11th.

The American consular representative ‘Tyler Allen’, who is staying in Pusan, is invited to give a lecture for our students in the image seminar room which is located on the second floor of in the Academic Information Hall on January 11th.

This lecture which topic is ‘cultural exchange between nations and diplomatic roles’ is one of the winter programs which are being held by inviting native speaker by the office of international relations in PKNU. Approximately 100 students including foreign students coming from 6 English speaking countries take this lecture.

In this lecture, Mr. Tyler emphasizes the importance of the diplomacy. Also, he explains the roles of the consular representative which are negotiation between countries and protection of their nationals residing abroad.

He says that “It is really important to maintain independence in diplomacy.” Also, “I want you to keep a fact in mind that all of you can be cultural navigation as a diplomat in the foreign countries.” he adds.

Meanwhile, PKNU is preceding an event to improve students’ English conversation ability and let them realize the importance of the understanding of the different culture. 40 students at PKNU and 40 foreign students take part in this program which starts on January 3rd for three weeks. <Pukyong Today>
