이날 부산일보 22면(오피니언면)에 실린 칼럼 제목은 ‘작은 성공 모여 큰 승일 이루는 새해를’. 이번 칼럼은 새해를 맞아 저마다의 일정관리 수첩에 적어두고 실천할 만한 ‘나와의 약속’을 소개해 눈길을 끌었다. 김 총장은 칼럼에서 “이 시대 우리 사회의 가장 큰 문제 중의 하나는 타인에 대한 이해와 공감능력의 부족이다. 이는 가족, 사회, 국가의 갈등과 메마름을 증폭시키는 요인이 되고 있다.”면서, ‘나는 언제나 당신을 배려하겠다.’를 자신과의 첫 번째 약속으로 꼽았다. 우리 모두 전쟁 치르듯 살고 있으니 나만큼 힘든 타인을 이해하고 배려하자는 것. 두 번째 약속은 「학문의 즐거움」을 쓴 히로나카 헤이스케의 말에서 인용한 ‘사실과 상상을 구분하겠다.’. 김 총장은 “무엇이 사실인지 상상인지 분명히 구분하여 사실을 사실 그대로 받아들여야한다.”면서, “나를 미워하고 나를 괴롭히는 것은 타인이 아니라 바로 내가 만들어낸 상상인 경우가 많다.”고 밝혔다. 김 총장은 “착안대국 착수소국(着眼大局 着手小局)이란 말이 있다. 대국적으로 생각하고 멀리 보라, 그러나 실행은 한수 한수에 집중하라. 그리하여 작은 성공들을 모아 나가는 것이 승리의 길.”이라고 밝혔다. 그는 “지극히 개인적인 삶의 기술들, 이런 소소한 소국(小局)들이 모여 멋진 대국(大局)을 만들어갈 수 있을 것.”이라고 말했다. 그는 이를 위해 “무엇보다 새해에는 우리 부디 ‘용기’를 잃지 말자. 그리고 부지런하자.”고 권유하고 다짐했다.<부경투데이> ▷칼럼 전문 보기 The president of Pukyong National University, Kim Young-Seup, posted his column on Busan Ilbo's public opinion on January 2. The title of column on Busan Ilbo page 22 is 'The Big Victory Made of Small Successes in New Year'. This column drew attention by introducing 'the promises with me' which is good for writing on individual schedule notes. The president said on the column that the biggest problem of this society is lack of understanding and empathic ability toward others. "This problem cause serious conflicts between family members, societies, and countries. Therefore, I made the first promise myself that I will be considerate to others. As we are living like we are in the war, so I want to understand and considerate others as they are hard to live as like me,' he said. The second promise of him is 'Dividing the fact from imagination' quoted from Heisuke Hironaka's mention who is famous writer of 「The Pleasure of Learning」. He said that we need to take the fact as the fact definitely dividing from the imagination because the one who hate me and harass me is sometimes not others but the one from our imagination. The third one is 'realizing the truth by myself' as Mencius said. "The meaning of this is that we need to realize it just with the right way through exact procedure because it is the only way to understand reason of things with own effort. As people are with a firm faith through understanding reason of things by themselves, they can't be shaken their mind. The understanding reasons of things are getting piled up with firm stability, and it can reach to the root of truth in all direction in any way. Therefore, noble men used to focus on realizing the truth by themselves," the president said. Mr. Kim mentioned that the way of victory is collecting small successes with a sentence "think broadly, but act focusing on all the small things." "The totally private skills of life, collecting these kinds of small points of view will make a big one.
