주인공은 1월 31일 부경대학교에 200만원의 발전기금을 낸 박혜지 씨(32세). 그는 2010년 2월 부경대 시각디자인학과를 졸업한 뒤 현재 울산의 모 대학 홍보팀에서 디자이너로 근무 중이다. 그는 “대학 다닐 때 운 좋게도 장학금을 꽤 많이 받으면서 학교를 다닐 수 있었다.”면서, “나중에 돈 벌면 후배에게 도움을 줘야지 생각하다가 지도교수님이 거액을 모교에 쾌척하셨다는 소식을 접하고 기부를 실천하게 됐다.”고 말했다. 그의 지도교수는 내달 퇴임하는 김선화 교수(65세). 김 교수는 지난해 12월 학생 장학금으로 써달라며 2천만 원을 부경대에 기부한 바 있다. 김 교수는 당시 “학비 벌려고 밤늦게까지 아르바이트 하느라 잠이 모자라 강의시간에 졸고, 그렇게 수업을 못 따라가니 성적이 안 좋아 장학금을 못 받는 악순환 속에 갇혀 있는 학생들을 볼 때마다 가슴이 아팠다.”고 기부배경을 밝혔었다. 박 씨는 “김 교수님은 학생들이 아르바이트로 인해 전시회나 공모전 등 다양한 디자인경험에 쏟을 시간이 부족한 것을 늘 안타까워 하셨다. 월급에서 모은 작은 금액이지만 저도 후배들에게 힘과 용기를 줄 수 있다면 좋겠다.”고 말했다. 그는 “작은 것이라도 주위의 도움이 얼마나 큰 격려가 되는지 학교와 직장에서 절감했다.”고 말했다. 학교의 장학혜택으로 좋은 성적으로 졸업했고, 사회에 나와서도 학과 선배들로부터 많은 조언을 받았기에 업무를 헤쳐 나갈 수 있었다는 것. 그는 후배들에게 “필요하면 언제든지 여러 선배들에게 도움을 청하라.”고 했다. 그는 “그리고 나중에 졸업하면 후배님의 후배에게 도움을 주면서 도움을 이어가면 좋겠다.”고 말했다. <부경투데이> It attracts attention that the good deeds of the "Good Disciples," who received news that college teachers had funded their development and raised funds for their alma mater.
