최근 물에 빠진 아이를 구한 ‘함덕해수욕장 영웅’으로 큰 화제를 모았던 부경대학교 IT융합응용공학과 4학년 이예진 씨(24·여)와 그의 남자친구 오원탁 씨(27‧부산 모라동). 8월 3일 부경대 캠퍼스에서 만난 이 씨는 “그 때 아이를 배 위로 건져 올리고 남자친구가 아이에게 심폐소생술을 하는 동안 저는 펑펑 울면서 해변으로 가기 위해 미친 듯이 노를 저었어요.”라며 구조 당시 긴박했던 상황을 설명했다. 이들은 지난 23일 휴가 차 방문한 함덕해수욕장에서 카약을 타던 중 50미터 뒤쪽 바다에 빠져 비명을 지르던 여섯 살 난 여자아이를 발견했다. 튜브를 타고 물놀이 하던 여자아이가 강풍에 휩쓸려 먼 바다 쪽으로 떠밀려 튜브가 뒤집어지며 물에 빠진 것. 그 아이를 구한 뒤 홀연히 사라져 이들은 SNS 등에서 ‘천사커플’, ‘현실판 다크나이트’ 등으로 불리며 큰 화제가 됐다. 이 씨는 “구조 당시 아이 입술이 검푸르게 변해있어 혹시 잘못되지 않을까 걱정도 되고 너무 무서웠어요. 우리도 기진맥진 탈진된 상태였지요. 그래서 호흡이 돌아온 아이를 부모 품에 안겨준 뒤 자리를 떠났어요.”라고 말했다. 당시 구조 소식이 전해지자 언론과 네티즌들은 이 ‘얼굴 없는 영웅’들을 찾기 시작했고, 아이의 상태가 궁금했던 이 씨가 한 언론에 연락하면서 이들의 정체가 드러나게 됐다. 이들을 수소문해 왔던 아이의 부모와도 연락이 닿았다. 일본에서 여행 왔던 아이의 가족은 경황이 없어 감사인사를 제대로 전하지 못했다며 국제전화를 걸어와 이들에게 고마움을 전했다. 이 씨는 “그 자리에 있었으면 누구나 그랬을 텐데 뜨거운 관심을 받아서 어리둥절해요. 이 소식을 들은 부모님이 기뻐하셨어요.”라고 말했다. 그는 “취업을 준비하는 평범한 대학생이지만, 앞으로도 누군가 어려움에 처하면 도울 수 있는 삶을 살고 싶어요.”라며 환하게 웃었다. <부경투데이>

Lee said, "I was worried that kid's lips turned blue when I was rescued. We were entirely exhausted. After her breathing came back, we sent her back to his parents and left the place. " When the news came out, media and netizens began looking for these 'faceless heroes', and when Lee, who was curious about the status of the child, contacted the media, their identity was revealed finally. They also contacted the parents of the children who had been asking all around about them. The kid's family who traveled from Japan to Korea, expressed their gratitude through international phone call, saying that they could not say thanks earlier as they even had no time to think.
