제자들이 7년 전에 세상을 떠난 스승을 기리는 따뜻한 추모사업을 벌여 눈길을 끈다. 고(故) 양보석 부경대학교 교수(기계설계공학과)를 잊지 못한 제자들이 스승 이름을 딴 ’양보석 세미나실’을 명명하고, 세미나실 입구에는 스승의 추모 흉상(오른쪽 사진)을 설치했다. 지능역학연구실 동문회(회장 최원호·79학번·박사 1기)는 지난달 20일 부경대 공과대학 공학1관 622호에서 ’부경대학교 기계설계공학과 양보석 교수 추모 흉상 제막식’을 가졌다. 이날 행사에는 동문회 최 회장 등 20여명의 동문과 김상봉 부경대 산학협력부총장, 강인필 학과장, 이연원 교수, 김선진 교수 등 기계설계공학과 교수들이 참석했다. 1985년 부경대에 부임한 양 교수는 ’기계진동’ 분야를 개척한 세계적인 과학자다. 안타깝게도 그는 병마를 이기지 못하고 지난 2012년 운명했다. 기계 건강상태의 진단과 예측에 대한 양 교수의 연구논문들은 세계적으로도 독보적이다. 산업계에서 기계설비 결함으로 생기는 막대한 손실을 줄일 수 있어 지금도 세계에서 끊임없이 인용되고 있을 정도로 유명하다. 그의 사후 3년이 되던 2015년 11월, 돌아가신 스승을 잊지 못해 제자인 이소환 신호이엔티(주) 대표이사는 ’양보석 장학금’이라는 명칭으로 6,000만원의 기금을 대학에 기부하기도 했다. 이번 추모흉상 제작에도 양 교수를 사랑하는 제자들이 십시일반 뜻을 모았다. 동문들은 스승을 어떻게 기억하고 있을까? - “교수님의 강의노트는 해마다 바뀌었고 수업은 엄하게 진행됐고 시험도 매우 어려웠다.” - “교수님의 지능역학연구실에 합격한 석·박사과정 학생들은 네 학기 중 첫 학기만 등록금을 부담하고 나머지 학기는 교수님이 지원했다.” - “돌아가신 뒤 남은 재산이 소형 아파트와 낡은 승용차 한 대 뿐이었을 정도로 교수님은 오로지 연구와 제자만 보고 사신 이 시대의 진정한 사표(師表)이셨다.” 양 교수의 추모 흉상에는 그의 약력과 공적이 이렇게 적혔다. - “74명의 석사와 26명의 박사를 양성하였으며 회전기계의 진동 해석 및 최적설계와 회전기계의 상태감시 및 이상 진단에 많은 업적을 남겼다.” 그러나 스승의 깊은 사랑이야 어찌 몇 줄로 정리할 수 있으랴, 그 사랑 아직 끝나지도 않았으므로. 흉상의 저 따뜻한 눈빛이 이 특별한 공간을 드나드는 수많은 제자들에게 자부심과 사랑을 전해줄 것이므로. <부경투데이>
Disciples who did not forget Professor Yang Bo-seok of Pukyong National University (Mechanical Design Engineering Department) named 'Yang Bo-seok Seminar Room' named after Master and installed memorial bust of teacher (right picture) at entrance of seminar room. The alumni association of intelligent epidemiology lab (Chairman Choi Won-ho, student number 79, doctor 1st period) held 'Pukyong National University mechanical design engineering professor Yang Bo-seok professor memorial bust unveiling ceremony' on the 20th in Pukyong National University engineering 1st building room 622. At the ceremony, professors of mechanical design engineering professors attended 20 alumni including alumni association chairperson Kim Sang-Bong, vice-president of industry-academy cooperation team of PKNU, professor Kang In-pil, professor Lee Yeon-won, and Kim Seon-jin. Professor Yang, who was appointed to Pukyong National University in 1985, is a world-renowned scientist who pioneered the field of 'mechanical vibration'. Unfortunately, he did recover from the disease and died in 2012. Professor Yang's research papers on the diagnosis and prediction of mechanical health status are unique worldwide. It is known to be constantly quoted in the world because it can reduce the huge losses caused by machinery faults in the industry. In November 2015, when he was three years after his death, Lee So-hwan, the chairman of Shinho ENT, a disciple who did not forget his deceased master, donated 60 million won to the university under the title of "Yang Bo-seok Scholarship". In the making of this memorial bust, the disciples who love professor Yang have agreed to do this. What memories do alumni have to the mentor? - "His lecture notes have changed every year, the lessons have been rigorous and the tests have been very difficult." - "The students who passed the professor's intelligent epidemiology lab only paid the tuition for the first semester of the four semesters, and the professor gave fee for the other semesters." - "The only remaining property was a small apartment and an old passenger car, so the professor was a true resident of this age who loved only research and disciples." His professors' memorial bust was filled with his biography and achievements. - "You have trained 74 masters and 26 doctors and have made many achievements in vibration analysis and optimum design of rotating machine, monitoring of condition of rotating machine and diagnosis of abnormality." But the deep love of the Master, how many lines can we write?, the love is not over yet.
