대학가에 위치한 ‘복사집’ 사장님이 대학에 감사한 마음을 전하고 싶다며 거액을 쾌척해 주위를 훈훈하게 하고 있다.
국립부경대학교(총장 장영수)는 인쇄？복사업체 부경사(부산 대연동)의 조광제 대표(50)가 지난 3월 19일 대학 발전기금 2천만 원을 기부했다고 밝혔다.
조 대표는 이날 오전 부경대 대학본부 3층 총장실을 찾아 “주 고객인 부경대 교수, 학생, 직원 등이 많이 이용해준 덕분에 여기 대학가에 자리를 잡을 수 있었다. 그 고마운 마음을 조금이나마 전달하고 싶다.”라며 장영수 총장에게 2천만 원을 전달했다.
조 대표는 지난 2015년 부경대 대연캠퍼스 쪽문 인근에 학교나 기업, 관공서 등의 책자를 제작하거나 학생을 대상으로 학위논문 인쇄, 복사 등 서비스를 제공하는 부경사를 개업해 운영해오고 있다.
그는 “개업 초기에는 많은 어려움이 있었지만 부경대 구성원들에게 입소문이 좋게 나고 이용자들이 늘면서 사업이 안정화됐다. 이제는 그 은혜를 돌려주고 싶다.”라고 밝혔다.
부경대 동문(화학과 91학번)이기도 한 그의 모교에 대한 각별한 애정도 이번 기부의 중요한 동기다. 그는 “부경대는 학사와 석사과정까지 나의 20대를 모두 보낸 곳이다. 모교가 발전하는 데 작으나마 보탬이 된다면 정말 기쁠 것 같다.”라고 말했다.
조 대표는 “대학 졸업을 앞두고 IMF로 어려움을 겪을 때 지도교수셨던 김영일 교수님의 조언이 큰 힘이 됐고, 지금은 후배이자 고객인 부경대 교수에게도 많은 도움을 받고 있다. 이제는 내가 부경대와 후배들에게 조금이나마 도움을 주고 싶은 마음.”이라고 밝혔다.
부경대는 조 대표의 이번 기부가 코로나19로 인한 매출 감소 등 어려운 여건 속에 이뤄졌다는 점에서 더욱 뜻깊다는 반응이다. 조 대표는 “어려운 시기이지만 거래처를 확대하려는 노력을 이어가고 있다. 모두가 조금씩 힘을 내고 서로 도울 수 있는 방법을 찾는다면 이 시기를 슬기롭게 극복해나갈 수 있을 거라고 믿는다.”라고 말했다. <부경투데이>

Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) announced that Jo Gwang-je (age 50), owner of PukyongSa (Daeyeon-dong, Busan), which is a printing and copying service shop, donated 20 million won for the development of the university.
On the morning of the day of the donation, Mr. Jo visited the president's office on the 3rd floor of the campus administration building at Pukyong National University and said, "our main customers, Pukyong National University professors, students, and staff, use our service a lot, so we were able to settle down on the campus street. I want to convey my appreciation even a little."
Mr. Jo has been running PukyongSa, which is located near the side gate of Pukyong National University's Daeyeon Campus and provides printing and copying services for students as well as produces booklets for schools, companies, and government offices, since 2015.
There were many difficulties in the beginning, but the business stabilized with some buzz marketing among members of Pukyong National University, as a result, the number of customers increased. Now I want to repay them.
One important motivation for this donation is his special affection for his alma mater. Mr. Jo is also an alumnus of Pukyong National University (class of '91, Dept. of Chemistry). He said, "Pukyong National University is a place where I spent my twenties, taking both undergraduate and graduate courses. I would be very happy even if my donation was small but contributed to the development of my alma mater."
Mr. Jo said, "the advice of Professor Kim Young-il, who was my supervisor when I was struggling with the IMF crisis ahead of graduating college, helped me a lot, and now I am receiving a lot of help from professors at Pukyong National University, who are my juniors and clients. Now, I want to give a little help to Pukyong National University and the students."
Pukyong National University responded that the donation from Mr. Jo was more meaningful in that it was made in difficult conditions due to a decrease in sales due to Corona-19. "Although it is a difficult time, we are continuing our efforts to expand our business. I believe that if everyone plucks up their courage little by little and finds a way to support each other, we will be able to overcome this difficult time with wisdom," Mr. Jo said. <Pukyong Today>
