부산 국립부경대, 일본 유학생·문화 교류 물꼬 튼다

- 한일 공동 유학생 교류사업 수학대학 선정

국립부경대학교(총장 장영수)가 교육부 국립국제교육원의 ‘2023~2025학년도 한일 공동 고등교육 유학생 교류사업 수학대학’으로 선정됐다고 밝혔다.

이 사업은 연간 40명의 일본 학생들에게 한국대학에서 수학하는 기회를 제공해 한국에 대한 이해를 높이고, 이들을 친한·지한 인재로 육성하기 위한 것이다.

부산지역에서 외국인 유학생이 가장 많은(2022, 대학알리미) 부경대는 쿄토대(QS Rank 33위), 도호쿠대(QS Rank 82위), 홋카이도대(QS Rank 145위), 츠쿠바대(QS Rank 285위) 등 유수의 일본 37개 대학과 국제학술교류협정을 맺고 협력해온 데 이어, 이번 사업 선정으로 우수 유학생을 추가로 유치하는 등 교류를 확대하게 됐다. 현재 부경대에 유학 중인 일본 학생은 전체 65개국 가운데 중국, 베트남에 이어 3번째로 많다.

이에 따라 부경대는 내년부터 석·박사 학위과정, 학부 1년 과정, 한국어 예비교육과정을 운영하며 우수 일본 장학생을 선발해 한국어교육을 비롯, 등록금, 생활비, 보험료, 항공권 등을 지원한다.

부경대는 이번 사업 선정에 따라 유학생 교류는 물론, 코로나로 인해 지난 2019년 이후 중단됐던 아사쿠라 시민축제, 대마도 홈스테이 등 문화교류 행사도 본격 재가동한다는 계획이다.

부경대는 일본의 대표적인 지역 축제 중 하나인 후쿠오카현 아사쿠라 시민축제에 아사쿠라시의 초청으로 1996년부터 2019년까지 332명의 학생을 파견해왔고, 나가사키현 쓰시마시의 초청으로 2005년부터 2019년까지 186명의 학생을 대마도 홈스테이 프로그램에 파견한 바 있다.

한편 부경대는 이번 사업에 앞서 2023~2025 정부초청 외국인 장학생 학위과정 수학 대학으로도 선정되는 등 외국인 유학생 우수 교육 기관으로 인정받고 있다. <부경투데이>

PKNU in Busan opens the door for Japanese students to study in Korea and cultural exchange

- selected as a university to host a Korea-Japan joint international student exchange program

Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) announced that it was selected as a 'joint university higher education exchange program between Korea and Japan for the 2023-2025 academic year' by the Ministry of education's National institute for international education.

This project is to enhance understanding of Korea by providing 40 Japanese students a year with the opportunity to study at Korean universities, and to nurture them into talented pro-Korean and knowledgeable people about Korea.

Pukyong National University, which has the largest number of foreign students in Busan (www.acdemyinfo.go.kr, 2022), has cooperated with 37 leading Japanese universities such as Kyoto university (ranked 33rd, QS world university rankings), Tohoku university (ranked 82nd), Hokkaido university (ranked 145th), university of Tsukuba (ranked 285th), and other leading Japanese universities, and it has expanded exchanges by attracting additional excellent international students. Currently, the number of Japanese students studying at Pukyong National University ranks third among all 65 countries after China and Vietnam.

Accordingly, Pukyong National University will operate master's and doctoral degree programs, undergraduate one-year courses, and Korean language preparatory courses from next year, and select excellent Japanese scholarship students to support Korean language education, tuition, living expenses, insurance, and air tickets.

As Pukyong National University has been selected for this project, it is planning to resume international student exchanges, as well as cultural exchange events between Korea and Japan, such as the Asakura festival and homestay program in Tsushima, which have been suspended since 2019 due to the corona virus.

Pukyong National University has dispatched 332 students from 1996 to 2019 at the invitation of Asakura city to the Asakura citizens festival in Fukuoka, one of Japan's representative regional festivals. Also, at the invitation of Tsushima city in Nagasaki, 186 students participated in the Tsushima homestay program from 2005 to 2019.

Meanwhile, Pukyong National University was selected for the 2023-2025 government-invited Global Korea scholarship program prior to this project, and is recognized as an excellent educational institution for international students. <Pukyong today>
