국립부경대, AI 융합인재 양성 ‘AX혁신대학’ 신설
- 별도 단과대학 설립해 올해 입시부터 신입생 38명 모집 나서
- AX지속가능융합학과·AI융합시스템공학과·AXIC자유전공학부 운영
국립부경대학교(총장 배상훈)가 인공지능(AI) 시대를 선도할 융합형 인재 양성을 위해 2027학년도부터 ‘AX혁신대학’을 신설하고 본격 운영에 나선다.
국립부경대는 급속한 디지털 대전환과 인공지능 기술 확산에 대응하고, 미래 산업을 이끌 AI 융합인재를 체계적으로 양성하기 위해 AX혁신대학을 신설한다고 밝혔다. 이번 단과대학 설립은 대학의 미래 성장동력을 확보하고 지역 산업 혁신을 선도하기 위한 핵심 발전 전략이다.
AX혁신대학은 AI 기술을 다양한 산업 분야와 융합해 실제 문제를 해결하고 새로운 가치를 창출할 수 있는 미래형 인재를 키워낼 계획이다. 해양·수산, 바이오, 스마트물류, 에너지, 제조 등 지역과 국가의 전략산업에 AI를 접목해 산업 혁신을 주도할 수 있는 융합 역량을 기르는 데 중점을 둔다.
이를 위해 국립부경대는 AX혁신대학 내에 △AX지속가능융합학과 △AI융합시스템공학과 △AXIC자유전공학부 등 1개 학부 2개 학과를 신설하고, 올해 입시부터 총 38명의 신입생을 모집한다. 학과 신설과 정원 조정으로 대학 전체 입학정원은 3,338명에서 내년 3,358명으로 20명 증원됐다.
AX지속가능융합학과는 AI를 활용해 지속가능한 미래 사회를 설계하고 산업·사회 문제를 해결할 수 있는 혁신형 인재를 양성한다. 학생들은 수산·해양, 에너지, 제조, 지역사회 등 다양한 분야의 실제 문제를 발굴하고 해결하는 프로젝트 중심 교육을 통해 융합적 사고력과 문제 해결 역량을 기르게 된다.
AI융합시스템공학과는 AI·데이터·시스템 기술을 기반으로 미래 산업의 디지털 혁신을 이끌 실무형 공학 인재를 양성한다. 머신러닝, 생성형 AI, 데이터사이언스, 클라우드, 데이터베이스 등 첨단 기술 교육과 함께 해양, 바이오, 스마트물류 분야의 실제 데이터를 활용한 프로젝트를 운영해 산업 현장 중심의 역량을 강화할 계획이다.
AXIC자유전공학부는 학생들이 입학 후 AI와 연계한 다양한 학문 분야를 탐색하며 자신의 적성과 진로에 맞는 학습 경로를 설계할 수 있도록 지원한다.
국립부경대는 AX혁신대학을 통해 기존 전공 중심 교육체계를 넘어 AI 기반 융합교육 플랫폼을 구축하고, 미래 산업 수요에 부합하는 교육 혁신을 추진할 방침이다. 특히 해양수산 특성화 국립대학으로서의 강점을 바탕으로 AI와 해양수산 분야를 융합한 차별화된 교육을 통해 지역 전략산업의 디지털 전환과 경쟁력 강화에도 기여할 것으로 기대한다.

Pukyong National University (President Sang-Hoon Bae) will establish the AX Innovation College beginning in the 2027 academic year to systematically nurture convergence-oriented talent capable of leading the artificial intelligence (AI) era.
Pukyong National University announced that the new college is being established in response to the rapid digital transformation and the widespread adoption of AI technologies, with the goal of systematically developing AI convergence talent to lead future industries. The establishment of the college is a key development strategy aimed at securing the university’s future growth engines and leading innovation in regional industries.
The AX Innovation College will foster future-ready professionals capable of applying AI technologies across diverse industries to solve real-world problems and create new values. Its programs will focus on developing interdisciplinary capabilities that can drive industrial innovation by integrating AI into strategic regional and national sectors, including oceans and fisheries, biotechnology, smart logistics, energy, and manufacturing.
To this end, Pukyong National University will establish two departments and one school within the AX Innovation College: the Department of AX Sustainable Convergence, the Department of AI Convergence Systems Engineering, and the AXIC School of Interdisciplinary Studies. A total of 38 freshmen will be recruited beginning with this year’s admissions cycle. Following the establishment of the new departments and adjustments to enrollment quotas, the university’s total undergraduate admission quota will increase by 20, from 3,338 to 3,358 students next year.
The Department of AX Sustainable Convergence will cultivate innovative professionals capable of using AI to design a sustainable future society and address industrial and social challenges. Through project-based education focused on identifying and solving real-world problems in fields such as fisheries and oceans, energy, manufacturing, and local communities, students will develop interdisciplinary thinking and practical problem-solving skills.
The Department of AI Convergence Systems Engineering will cultivate practice-oriented engineering professionals capable of leading the digital transformation of future industries through AI, data, and systems technologies. Along with advanced coursework in machine learning, generative AI, data science, cloud computing, and databases, the department plans to offer projects using real-world data from the marine, biotechnology, and smart logistics sectors to strengthen students’ industry-focused capabilities.
The AXIC School of Interdisciplinary Studies will support students in exploring a wide range of academic fields connected to AI after enrollment and designing individualized learning pathways suited to their aptitudes and career goals.
Through the AX Innovation College, Pukyong National University plans to move beyond its existing major-centered education system by establishing an AI-based convergence education platform and pursuing educational innovation aligned with the needs of future industries. In particular, building on its strengths as a national university specializing in oceans and fisheries, the university is expected to contribute to the digital transformation and enhanced competitiveness of regional strategic industries through differentiated education that integrates AI with the oceans and fisheries sector.
