- November 25 in Pukyong National University ... Discuss about how to enhance international exchange.

The council for Regional Universities in Korea and Australia for development of the universities was held in Pukyong National University in November 25.

This council, which is conducted by the ministries of education of both countries, was being held in Pukyong National University, Kyungpook National University, Keimyung University, and Woosong University until November 27. This council opened for the development of regional universities through enhancing international exchange such as joint research of both countries and student exchange.

The Authorities of Pukyong National University, Kongju National University, Chonnam National University, and Chungbuk National University from Korea, and the University of Ballarat, the University of New England, Central Queensland University, and Southern Cross University from Australian Regional Universities Network (Executive Director Caroline Perkins) participated in this event.

On this day, participants in PKNU discussed cooperative plans through policies and plans of the Korean government for developing regional universities, a briefing session on policies for the Australian Regional Universities Network, and a presentation from Korean and Australian universities.

PKNU made a MOU agreement with the Australian Regional Universities Network, and decided to cooperate in expanding joint degree courses and vacation sessions, and conducting joint research in the fields of food safety, environment, and health.

Kim Young-Seup, the president of PKNU, said that PKNU has been conducting various international exchange businesses with ten universities in Australia so far such as exchange students, dual degree programs, and international internships. He also mentioned that he hopes this event could be a chance to enhance international exchange with Australian's local universities.

Meanwhile, the Australian Regional Universities Network visited Kyungpook National University and Keimyung University on November 26, and Woosong University on November 27, after the event in PKNU, to talk about cooperative plans for international exchange with Korean universities.<Pukyong today>
