PKNU first published 'Pictorial book of young fish' in Korea
In this book, a team of professor Kim Jin-koo researched and collected the color images of 85 species of sea fish such as sharks, mullets, seabreams, damselfish during the three years from 2016 to 2018, it includes information such as full-length, binary name, ecology, and resource status. This is the first time that a young fish has attempted to publish an image book for only the young fish of our sea, after the fry stage, before the fish became fish. In particular, two of the four sharks included in this book were collected by the research team for indoor collecting and recording of shark eggs at the Namcheon Beach Market, and Minrak raw fish center. Professor Kim Jin-koo said, "This book deals with the information of the most delicate period of the fish life cycle and I hope that the book will help to establish the species conservation measures.", and added, "In the future, I plan to publish a complete and uplifting version of information on more than 250 species of fish that expand." He added, "The actual samples of the photographs in this book are being kept at the Pukyong National Marine Fish Resource Donation Registration and Preservation Agency. There are about 10,000 specimens of 550 marine fish specimens stored in immersed, frozen and DNA state, if you submit a pre-sale application for research purposes, it will be provided free of charge. " The Pukyong National Maritime Fish Resource Donation Registration and Preservation Agency has published this book since 2014 as part of the Maritime Biotechnology Development Project of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries with Korea Institute of Marine Science & Technology Promotion (KIMST) in cooperation. It will be distributed to marine related organizations for use as research data. <Pukyong Today> |
