Selected PKNU’s 11 educational research groups (teams) for BK21 project As a result of preliminary selection for announced by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of the 4th Phase of BK21 project Korea (NRF) on 6th of August, Pukyong National University succeed in putting a total of 11 educational research groups (teams) including 9 educational research groups and 2 educational research groups on the list. The BK21 project is a support project to foster research manpower at the master's and doctoral level by providing research scholarships for graduate students and personnel expenses for new researchers so that the next generation of academics can focus on their studies and research. This year, 695 educational research teams and 364 educational research teams from 93 universities nationwide applied, and a total of 562 educational research groups (teams) from 68 universities have been pre-selected. As Pukyong National University has been selected for this project, the university will receive a total of 40 billion won for 7 years until 2027, from the budget to support the educational research groups (team), as well as the graduate school innovation support fund to universities where more than 5 educational research groups have been selected from this year. Accordingly, Pukyong National University plans to provide support for master's and doctoral level personnel to stably devote themselves to study and research, such as 700,000 won per month for masters, 1.3 million won per month for doctorate, and 3 million won per month for new researchers and the university is planning to cultivate research personnel of fusion and convergence required by the state and society. The 11 educational research groups (teams) of Pukyong National University selected this time are △Future Talent Training Project Group for the Functional Condensed Matter Physics, △Educational Research Team for Smart Infrastructure of Maritime Cities and Technologies of Reducing Disasters, △Educational Research Group for Construction of Tall Buildings in Maritime Cities and Fire Disaster Safety Technology, △Educational Research Group of i-SEED Global Environment, △Human Resources Training Project Group for Data Science Application for Innovative Growth of Local Communities, △Human Resources Training Research Group for Smart Green Fusion & Convergence Materials, △Customized Smart Healthcare Project Group for New Senior, △Educational Research Group for Fusional Aspect of AI (Artificial Intelligence), △Education Research Group for Smart Robot Convergence Application, △MADEC Designing, and △Educational Research Group for Fostering Global Experts for the Internationalization of Busan, the Gateway City of Eurasia. The final selection of the 4th Phase of BK21 project, meanwhile, is scheduled to be confirmed in September after applying for objections by universities and on-site inspections. <Pukyong Today> |
