여름방학을 맞아 개설된 부경대학교 국제계절학기가 외국 대학생들에게 인기를 끌고 있다.
7월 1일 개강한 부경대 국제계절학기에는 모두 12개국 162명의 국내외 대학생이 수강신청을 했다. 이중 외국 학생이 102명에 달한다.
1차로 1일부터 수업에 들어간 영어권 학생들은 영국 뱅고대, 프랑스 파리스디데롯대, 아일랜드 리메릭대, 호주 퀸슬랜드대, 스웨덴 룰리아대, 스페인 오토노마 바르셀로나대, 노르웨이 노르위전대, 칠레 콘셉시언대 등 9개국 13개 대학에서 왔다.
홍콩수인대 17명의 중어권 대학생과 일본 가고시마대 등 16개 대학 34명의 일본 대학생들은 각각 오는 15일과 내달 5일부터 참가한다.
이들은 8월 16일까지 언어권별로 2∼3주씩 부경대 기숙사에서 부경대 학생들과 함께 생활하면서 한국문화의 이해를 비롯, 국제경영, 스포츠 잠수 및 실습, 글로벌문화체험 등 5개 과목(6학점)을 이수한다.
특히 부경대는 해양도시 부산의 매력을 해외에 알리기 위해 해양스포츠인 ‘스포츠 잠수 및 실습’을 정식 과목으로 올해 처음 개설했다. 또 중어권과 일어권 학생들도 올해 처음 초청하는 등 대상도 확대했다.
지난 2009년 시작돼 올해로 5년째를 맞은 부경대 국제계절학기에는 지금까지 592명의 국내외 학생이 참가했다. 방학 중 재학생들에게 해외 대학에서 강의를 듣는 것과 같은 환경을 제공하고 해외대학과 교류를 확대하기 위한 프로그램. 부경대생들은 외국인 학생의 버디로 참여하면서 어학능력을 키우고 외국인 학생들은 한국의 문화를 체험한다.
부경대 국제교류본부 남형구 팀장은 “부산에는 해운대와 광안리 등 아름다운 바다가 있고 체재비도 저렴해 부경대 국제계절학기를 찾는 외국인 학생들이 점점 늘고 있다.”고 말했다.<부경투데이>
A Marine sports class is opened to introduce Busan’s attractions
- The session is gaining popularity from 162 foreign students from 12 countries, including England and France.
As the summer vacation has already started, Pukyong National University’s international summer session is becoming popular for foreign university students.
The summer session started on July 1st, and 162 students from 12 countries applied for the session - 102 of them are from abroad.
The students who started the session from the beginning are from 9 countries and 13 universities: Bangor University (England), University Paris Diderot (France), University of Limerick (Ireland), The University of Queensland (Australia), The Lulea University (Sweden), Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain), Norwegian University (Norway), and Universidad de Concepcion (Chile).
Also, 17 Chinese students from Hong Kong Shue Yan University will take part in the program from the 15th of this month, and 34 Japanese students from 16 universities such as Kagoshima University, will attend from August 5th.
The students will stay in the dormitory for 2 or 3 weeks until August 16th. They will take 5 classes (6 score) and learn about Korean culture, international management, sports diving and practice, and they will participate in a global culture experience with PKNU’s students.
PKNU especially opened a marine sports class "Sports Dive and Practice" as the session’s official subject to introduce Busan’s attractions to people from abroad. The target of this educational program has also expanded to include Chinese and Japanese students since the class first opened.
592 domestic and foreign students have attended PKNU’s summer session since it started in 2009, 5 years ago. This program provides an opportunity for foreign students to study in Korea and to experience Korean culture. It also enhances our exchange relationship with foreign universities and enables PKNU’s students to learn a foreign language.
Hyung Gu Nam, the team manager of the Office of International Relations of Pukyong National University, said that the number of foreign students who are coming to Korea to take PKNU’s international summer session is increasing because Busan has beautiful beaches such as Haeundae and Gwanganri, and the living expenses are also relatively cheap.<Pukyong today>
